With Universal Studios GB officially on the calendar for 2031, the excitement is real—but so is the déjà vu. Every Universal resort these days has some version of Jurassic World. From log flumes to roller coasters, we have officially reached peak pre-hysteria.
So maybe this time, Universal should consider looking backward instead of forward.
There are many dinosaur-themed franchises beyond Jurassic that could make for compelling park experiences—especially at the U.K. resort. So why not let Universal Studios GB become the park that celebrates IPs fans haven’t seen at the parks?
Universal Studios GB Needs More Vintage IPs Than Modern Blockbusters
Take The Land Before Time. The beloved 1988 animated classic is still fondly remembered by audiences. It’s heart-warming, emotional, and even a bit scary. As such, it would make a perfect fit for a family-friendly attraction with a dark ride or a Great Valley-themed area.
Even Jurassic Park—not World—could be a differentiator. Anything even remotely vintage would be a welcome change to the modern blockbuster franchises that dominate.
Universal has shifted hard into the World side of the franchise, but there’s a generation of fans who much prefer the amber glow of the original. A land dedicated entirely to the 1993 film’s aesthetic would stand out from all the sleek, high-tech World-branded areas.
Of course, we already have Park-themed attractions and areas at Universal Studios destinations worldwide, but Jurassic World slowly but surely continues to take over.

Universal Studios GB could be where old favorites get new life.
Right now, the resort has a blank slate, and with new IPs popping up in other Universal destinations, maybe this is the time to roll the clock back a bit. Well, 65 million years.
