Universal Studios theme parks are fun at the best of times, but New Year’s Eve celebrations take that excitement to new levels. Across the globe, Universal destinations—from Hollywood to Beijing—host annual festivities, often extending park hours and adding special programming to welcome the new year.
This year, Universal Studios Japan has taken things a step further by introducing a nap area to support guests tackling its marathon 26-hour operating day.
New Year’s Eve at Universal Studios Japan
At Universal Studios Japan, the NO LIMIT! Countdown 2025 event promises an unparalleled experience for visitors. The celebration kicks off at 7 p.m. on December 31 and runs continuously until 9 p.m. on January 1. Guests can enjoy 26 hours – yes, you read that right, 26 hours – of uninterrupted attractions, fireworks, and exclusive entertainment.
Highlights include an elaborate stage show that brings together elements of the park’s most beloved shows from the past year, including Kuromi Live, One Piece Premier Show 2024, NO LIMIT! Summer Dance Night, and Hami-Kuma Shout It Out Party.
In addition to the special entertainment, visitors will have access to a lineup of iconic attractions. Fan favorites like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, and Hollywood Dream – The Ride will remain open throughout the event.
The newly debuted Mine Cart Madness in Donkey Kong Country – which is based on the video games of the same name, including the detail of feeling like you’re jumping the track – will also be available. However, access to SUPER NINTENDO WORLD (which is now the term given to SUPER NINTENDO LAND, the OG part of the land, and Donkey Kong Country combined) requires an Area Timed Entry Ticket and will temporarily close for maintenance during the extended hours.
A New Relaxation Area
Recognizing the physical toll of a 26-hour theme park day, Universal Studios Japan has added a temporary nap area to help guests recharge.
This dedicated relaxation zone is equipped with approximately 280 seats at round tables, offering a warm and comfortable environment for visitors to rest. As noted on the park’s social media channels, this is the only official rest and nap area available.
As per USJ 1, the park’s relaxation area is located at Stage 33. “This is the only official rest and nap area,” they wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter (translated from Japanese). “There are chairs and it is warm. There are about 280 seats at the usual round tables.”

With temperatures in Osaka hovering around 42 degrees Fahrenheit at the time of writing, the nap area serves as a practical solution for those out in the chilly weather and the crowded festivities. While this feature is only temporary, it raises the question of whether relaxation zones should become a permanent fixture in theme parks, especially given the stamina required for guests who stay from park open to close.
Universal Studios Japan’s decision to introduce a nap area highlights its commitment to enhancing guest comfort, even during one of its busiest events. For those seeking a balance between non-stop thrills and moments of rest, the park’s approach offers an innovative solution to make the New Year’s celebration more enjoyable.
Whether you’re celebrating at Universal Studios Japan or another theme park, this year’s New Year’s Eve events promise unforgettable experiences—and maybe a little time to unwind between the excitement.
