The Disney Wish, the newest ship to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet, had its “float out” last Friday, February 11, 2022, and today, the Disney Parks Blog shared an exciting video to mark this momentous occasion!
Watch the video here:
At the float out, the Disney Wish was released from her construction site in drydock and touched water for the first time. The ship then made an exit from her drydock structure where crews from Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering were on hand to celebrate alongside Captain Minnie Mouse and exciting fireworks!
Leaving a cruise ship’s construction facility is actually quite a process. The Disney Wish took a total of 90 minutes to fully sail out of drydock once she was let onto the water. While the interior of the new ship is still under construction, the float out revealed the completed exterior of the Disney Wish complete with Rapunzel, the newest signature stern character statue to join the Disney Cruise Line fleet. Also visible was the AquaMouse, the “first Disney attraction at sea!”
The next step in the Disney Wish’s journey will come when the ship is completed and she will sail down the River Ems to Eemshaven, Netherlands where she will remain prior to launch. Before this should, she will remain close to her current pier while crews work to finish up her interior construction ahead of her official launch this summer.
The Disney Wish promises all-new, memorable experiences with Disney at sea for the whole family with favorite and original dining experiences, live performances, interactive areas of the ship for every age and interest, enhanced guest cabins and suites, and so much more.
The ship’s maiden voyage has been pushed back a couple of weeks shaking up some early reservations, however the Disney Wish looks set for her summer 2022 launch and additional details and reservations are available at disneycruiseline.com.
