Walt Disney World Attractions You Must Experience in 2018

5. Pandora: The World of Avatar – Animal Kingdom

The bioluminescent world inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar opened to the public on May 27, 2017, but many Disney fanatics have yet to make their yearly pilgrimage to the parks since its opening and are just recently getting the chance to experience this fascinating land and the two attractions inside it—Avatar: Flight of Passage and Na’vi River Journey. Slightly short of a year after their openings, both remain so wildly popular among Guests that wait times in the stand-by queues exceed 3 hours for Flight of Passage and 1 ½ to 2 hours for Na’vi River Journey, especially during peak seasons. Even the most expansive vocabulary falls woefully short of describing the two one-of-a-kind attractions. Each attraction showcases some of the best work by Disney Imagineering in its history, and if you’ve yet to experience them, you’re in for quite the impressive treat! Be sure to secure your FastPass+ times for these attractions 60 days before your visit if you’re staying on Disney property and 30 days before your visit if you’re staying off property.

I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
