Walt Disney World’s Boardwalk – Why You’ll Love It!

Boardwalk Inn

While the Walt Disney World theme parks are the resort’s main attractions, there are plenty of other places to visit on the property. One of the lesser-known entertainment areas is Disney’s Boardwalk, located in the Epcot Resort Area. This lakefront promenade is reminiscent of early 1900’s boardwalks like Coney Island and Atlantic City. It also provides nearly endless options for entertainment and nightlife. Whether you’re looking for a fun place to spend an evening or an exciting opportunity to dance the night away, Disney’s Boardwalk is where you need to be!

1. Stroll Around the Lake

One of the best parts about spending time at the Boardwalk is simply taking a walk around Crescent Lake! The Boardwalk is connected to Disney’s Boardwalk Resort (big surprise), the Swan and Dolphin, Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club resorts, and the back entrance of Epcot! A walking path borders the perimeter of the lake, giving you the perfect opportunity to enjoy all of these areas.

2. Stop to Enjoy the Street Performers

During the evening hours, typically on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, you may find a variety of street performers on the BoardWalk. The musicians, jugglers, and balance artists make you feel as if you are walking through a vibrant street festival. Plus, they’re hilarious and family-friendly!

3. Play a Carnival Game

Midway-style games are open for you to play in the afternoons and evenings. These classic activities give you the chance to challenge your friends and family and, hopefully, win a fun prize!

4. Treat Yourself at the Boardwalk Bakery

This quaint sweets shop is the ideal stop for a quick breakfast or on-the-go treats and baked goods. From cupcakes, cookies, coffee, soups, or sandwiches, you’re sure to find exactly what you need to satisfy your cravings.

5. Rent a Surrey Bike

A faster and, quite frankly, more fun way to get around the Boardwalk is by surrey bike! This mode of transportation is available with 2-seats, 4-seats, or 6-seats. That way, everyone in the group can join in!

6. Watch the Game in the ESPN Club

If you’re a sports fan, then the ESPN Club at Disney’s Boardwalk is the place to get your game on! You’ll get the ultimate sports broadcast experience and, if you’re lucky, have the chance to watch celebrity athlete interviews at the sports desk or radio booth.

7. Indulge in a Tasty Meal

Some of the most delicious selections at Disney World can be found at the Boardwalk! The Flying Fish Cafe is a guest favorite with a full menu of premium seafood and prime steaks. For more casual dining experiences, you may choose to order a pie at the Pizza Window or try a Boardwalk famous funnel cake! Another fine dining option is Trattoria al Forno which offers old world favorite Italian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.  Visit this popular eatery for breakfast and you’ll dine with an array of Disney Princesses and their significant others!

8. Sing Along at Jellyrolls

If you’re over the age of 21, you won’t want to leave Jellyrolls off your Disney itinerary! This lively dueling piano bar is a great spot to grab a drink and enjoy the wacky rapport of the pianists. Don’t be afraid to ask for your favorite song! They love requests!

9. Get into the Groove at the Atlantic Dance Hall

Now is the chance to strut your stuff! This nightclub is the only other venue on Disney property that is exclusive to adult guests. After sunset, the stunning ballroom comes to life with dazzling lights and the hottest tunes from the 80s, 90s, and now. If you need a break from the dance floor, head to the balcony for some air and lovely views of the lake.

10. Enjoy a ride on the Skyliner

Just over the hill past the Boardwalk, Disney’s Skyliner is available to transport guests from Epcot to Hollywood Studios and many points in-between.  This isn’t only a mode of transportation, it’s an exciting Disney experience! This addition to Epcot’s area resorts (of which the Boardwalk is one) is great fun and a free ride to boot that your kids will love!

We’ve only scratched the surface of all the fun things to do at Disney’s Boardwalk! The timeless charm and endless fun are best experienced when you visit for yourself, so don’t forget to add the Boardwalk to your Disney vacation! If you found your favorite activity on this list or want to share another suggestion for visitors, we’d love to hear all about it.
