Warning: Fantasmic! Schedule Shift Will Impact Hollywood Studios Nights

Even small changes at Walt Disney World can have a big impact, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Bright spotlights shine in various directions, adding to the excitement and anticipation of the forthcoming spectacle.

The show, which has long been a must-do for guests ending their night in the park, is now starting later than before. As of April 24, 2026, the performance time has moved from 8:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. That shift might not seem dramatic, but in a park built around careful planning, it can completely change how your evening plays out.

With the later start time, guests now have a larger gap between dinner and the show. That can be helpful if you want to take things slow, but it also means you’ll need to rethink how you structure the second half of your day. It’s not as simple as wrapping up a ride and heading straight to the amphitheater anymore.

On top of that, Disney is adding a second showing at 10:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays through May 9. This gives guests a bit more flexibility, especially those who want to avoid the rush of the first performance. But since it’s only temporary, many nights will still rely on just one showing—and that’s where things can get crowded fast.

Another slight adjustment arrives on June 14, when the show moves to 9:05 p.m. And if you’re visiting on June 18, you won’t see Fantasmic! at all due to an early park closure for a private event.

All of this points to a bigger trend. Disney is actively adjusting how nighttime entertainment fits into the overall park experience. By pushing Fantasmic! later, the company keeps guests in the park longer, spreads out crowds, and better aligns the show with sunset conditions.

For guests, though, it creates a new set of decisions.

Do you line up early and commit to the show, or do you take advantage of shorter lines elsewhere and risk missing out? Do you plan dinner later, or try to squeeze everything in beforehand?

These are the kinds of questions that didn’t feel as complicated when the show started earlier.

There’s also the energy factor. A later Fantasmic! can feel more dramatic, especially with darker skies enhancing the effects. But it also means a longer day, which may not work for everyone in your group.

At the end of the day, Fantasmic! is still one of the most popular shows at Walt Disney World. That hasn’t changed. What has changed is when you experience it—and that’s enough to make planning a little more important than before.
