We’ve Ranked the Attractions at Hollywood Studios, and Here They Are!

5. Fantasmic!

What do you get when you combine water fountains, projections, pyrotechnics, live entertainers, a terrible nightmare, Steamboat Willie and the Sorcerer’s Apprentice? None other than the amazing nighttime spectacle at Disney’s Hollywood Studios—Fantasmic! This nighttime show replaced the previous “Sorcery in the Sky” nighttime spectacular. The story is all about the power of imagination—and Mickey apparently has a very vivid one! Mickey has a nightmare, and it just seems to keep going! Scenes from over 17 Disney feature films are shown as projections against screens of mist, and Mickey also encounters several Disney villains—Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Scar, Hades and more. He must battle Maleficent, the villain in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, who morphs into a huge fire-breathing dragon—4 stories tall! We won’t tell you how the show ends, but you and your family will find yourselves wondering whether Mickey will wake up from his nightmare before it’s too late! The ending is out of this world! You’ll stand up and cheer as Mickey (the Steamboat Willie version) navigates a big steamboat through the moat in front of the 10,000-seat amphitheater. His passengers? All our Disney favorites—some we can’t see anywhere else at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you were thinking Fantasmmic!was just another fireworks show, you’re wrong! I am a writer and a Mom to four children and two baby shih-tzus. My first experience with the Magic was in 1988, when my parents surprised my brother and me with a visit to Walt Disney World after a short trip to see friends in Georgia. I still hum the tune played during the Main Street Electrical Parade and remember the feeling of excitement from my very first visit. I introduced my husband to the Magic several years ago, and we take our children to the parks every time we can. No matter how many times I visit Walt Disney World, it seems it’s not enough! The ever-changing experience only gets better with each trip, and I’m thrilled to share the Magic with others, as well as some of the tips and tricks to getting the most out of the Magic with each visit!
