Without much fanfare, Disney has revealed that early access is coming for Test Track’s grand reopening at EPCOT—but there’s a catch. Not everyone will get a chance to hop in the ride vehicle early, and those who do need to meet very specific criteria.
After being closed for an extensive refurbishment, Test Track is revving back to life this summer with an updated look, new tech-driven experiences, and a completely reimagined storyline. While the ride officially returns to guests on July 22, 2025, some Disney fans will be stepping into the new version days or even weeks before the general public.
A VIP Preview Before the Public Rush
Disney is giving select groups a chance to preview the updated attraction before its grand reopening. If you’re a Cast Member, Annual Passholder, Disney Vacation Club Member, Club 33 Member, or a Golden Oak resident—you’re on the list.
Disney hasn’t said exactly when these previews will happen, but invitations and registration details are expected to roll out soon. Guests in those groups are being encouraged to monitor their email inboxes and the My Disney Experience app for announcements.
This kind of early access isn’t uncommon. Disney often rewards its most loyal (and highest-paying) fan groups with exclusive previews, and with Test Track being one of EPCOT’s most anticipated reopenings in years, this perk could be a big draw.
What’s New This Time Around?
If you’re picturing the same ride with a few shiny updates, think again. Test Track’s overhaul is significant.
Dubbed “Test Track 3.0” by fans, this new version features a completely new soundtrack, updated story scenes, and even a futuristic sensory experience that puts riders in the point-of-view of a high-tech vehicle. One scene uses over 29,000 lights to simulate how modern cars detect the road using sensor arrays and AI systems.
Beyond the technological leap, the story also shifts from simply testing a car’s limits to focusing on the heart of driving—adventure, emotion, and the memories created on the road. It’s a fresh take that fits right in with EPCOT’s World Discovery theme.
Regular Guests Won’t Wait Much Longer
If you’re not in one of the invited groups, don’t panic. The ride officially reopens on July 22, and all EPCOT guests will have access. That said, you can expect long standby wait times, likely Lightning Lane availability, and potentially even a virtual queue system if crowds are overwhelming at launch.
It’s a good idea to plan ahead if Test Track is on your summer Disney bucket list.
EPCOT’s Makeover Keeps Rolling
Test Track’s return is just one piece of EPCOT’s ongoing evolution. Over the past few years, the park has debuted Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana, and Luminous: The Symphony of Usas part of a massive transformation.
With this updated ride experience, EPCOT continues to lean into the blend of innovation and storytelling it’s always aimed for.
