5. Do your homework.

Disney has never done anything halfway, and each of the Disney Parks is chock full of magical experiences, thrilling attractions and great shows and parades. And if you’ve never been to Disneyland, you’ll want to do some research into all there is to do once you’re there, and there’s a lot! Keep visiting DisneyDreamer.com for great tips and information about the Disneyland Resort, and pick up the latest books written about the resort, such as Birnbaum’s Disneyland.

6. Make dining reservations up to 60 days in advance.

You’ll want to make dining reservations in advance. Some of the best to reserve are Blue Bayou, Café Orleans, Carthay Circle and Wine Country Trattoria. Each of these restaurants is amazing, but you will want to be sure to have a reservation because of their popularity among Guests. You can make your dining reservations by calling (714) 781-DINE or by visiting disneyland.disney.go.com.

7. Talk with your family about what they hope to see or do most.

Share some of the wonderful Disneyland research you’ve done with your family. See what piques their interest and make a list of the things your group hopes to experience and enjoy. If you have children who are too young to participate in the conversation, add to your list the things you think they’d enjoy most, and if they have a favorite Disney character, be sure to include on your list any attractions or shows that involve that character. The most important thing to remember is to include every member of your traveling party when you’re making your Disneyland bucket list!

8. Make an itinerary for your time in the parks.

Now take that bucket list and plan a loose itinerary for each day you’ll be at Disneyland. Make separate itineraries for Disneyland Park and Disney’s California Adventure (and even Downtown Disney). It’s important not to over-plan your day when making those itineraries. You want to allow room in your day for those things you decide to enjoy on the spur of the moment. Remember that some of the most magical experiences happen accidentally—that’s what makes it magical!
