Sometimes it’s easier just to say, “Eh, we’ll just buy it when we get there”. But sometimes you’re better off buying some items before you go, then brining them with you. Prices in stores on or around Disney property can be much higher than stores back at home. And a few extra bucks here and a few extra bucks there can really add up. So if you’re looking to save some money, it’s best that you buy these ten things before you leave home.
10. Snacks
Snacks are an essential with any trip, especially if you have little ones. If you purchase snacks at home, you can bring them in the parks with you, so you don’t have to spend money on pricey park food. This probably works better if you are driving, but you can bring snacks on the plane as well.
9. Autograph Books and Big Pen
If you are planning on visiting any of the parks while on your next vacation, chances are you will be meeting some characters, and you’ll probably want some autographs. Especially if this is your first trip. If you look around, you can probably find some cheaper. But it’s also handy just to have them before hand anyway.
8. Hand Sanitizer
When riding rides and playing in play areas, you will be touching a lot handle bars, seat belts, etc. The sad reality is, there are a lot of germs on those things. Carrying a small bottle of hand sanitizer is necessary.
7. Comfortable Bag
If you are planning on bringing snacks and other things with you, you are going to need a bag to carry it all in. Make sure you bring a bag that is comfortable to wear for hours and hours. I like to use cross body bags. Vera Bradley cross bodies are very comfortable and great quality. I also like to use drawstring backpacks. They’re big enough for all my needs, but aren’t chunky and heavy.
6. Ponchos
One thing you must know about Orlando is that it rains. A lot. You can buy ponchos in the park for around $10 each. If you look around, you can find some for less than $5. I highly recommend buying them before you go, from stores like Walmart or Target. Sometimes the dollar store might even have them!
5. Reusable Water Bottle
It’s hot down there in Central Florida and staying hydrated is super important. Buy a few reusable water bottles for your family and always keep them filled! You can ask for a cup of water at any of the parks for no cost.
4. Disney Themed T-shirts/Clothes
Sometimes you can find really good deals on Disney themed clothing at department stores or even the Disney Store. Chances are they are going to be a lot cheaper than the ones in the park. For an adult that seems fine, but sometimes kids want something new on vacation. My solution for that is buy some Disney t-shirts, costumes, or even a small toy, pack them with you, and surprise them with it randomly on your trip. This will save you money, but your kids will get the same level of enjoyment.
3. Sunscreen
It’s no joke that the Florida sun is hot! You’ll probably be able to find sunscreen cheaper at home than on Disney property or even in the Orlando area in general. No one wants to spend their vacation sun burnt!

Plastic bags and baggies can come in handy in so many ways. Plastic bags are great for dirty clothes and plastic baggies or zip-lock baggies are great for putting your phone and other electronics in while on water rides or incase in rains.

Phones are no longer just for calling, most of the time they serve as your camera as well as many other things. With the creation of Magicbands and the My Disney Experience app, you will be on your phone a lot! Your battery will be drained in no time. So buying a portable charger will save you loads of frustration. They’re cheap and light, so they won’t take up too much space in your purse or backpack!
A little planning can go a long way, especially when planning for a Disney vacation. It definitely wouldn’t hurt to save a few bucks here and there. So buying things before you leave will not only save you money, but also time and frustration as well!
