15 Things Every Walt Disney World Rookie Should Know

7. Be Careful of Your Budget

You may have experienced some sticker shock when you purchased your Disney tickets and made your hotel reservations, but you still have expenses related to your trip! Food at Disney World isn’t cheap, so be sure to budget for meals. Check prices before you dine so you don’t get surprised with a bill that’s higher than you expected. If you’re taking advantage of the Disney Dining Plan, remember to budget for tips, as they are not included. Souvenirs are another expense, and there are an unbelievable number of opportunities to buy them. It’s easy to go crazy, so try to keep yourself (and your kids) in check. While Magic Bands are a great convenience, charging to them doesn’t always feel like spending “real” money until you get your bill at the end of the visit, so keep track of your spending!

Laurel took her first trip to Walt Disney World when she was only 18 months old and hasn’t stopped visiting since. Now she enjoys taking her own twins and husband as often as she can. And don’t tell the boys, but sometimes she goes without them, too.
