7. EPCOT is an Acronym!

If you’ve ever wondered where Epcot got it’s unusual name, it’s actually an acronym, which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Walt Disney envisioned Epcot as an actual community that would be home to 20,000 people! But as you know, that isn’t what Epcot is today. The community idea didn’t work out, but the Tomorrow part is certainly present in Futureworld. You can see a model of the planned layout for the original version of Epcot over in Magic Kingdom, on the People Mover ride in Tomorrowland.
