Epic Universe continues attracting massive crowds every single day, but alongside the excitement surrounding Universal Orlando’s newest park, another trend has quietly started getting attention online: aggressive shoplifting enforcement.

According to WDW Active Crime, another theft-related arrest recently took place inside Epic Universe after merchandise reportedly valued at just $24 allegedly led to a much larger incident involving deputies, loss prevention teams, and a foot pursuit through the park.
The report states that Universal loss prevention officers allegedly observed a guest removing merchandise from a store display before walking past checkout areas without paying.
From there, the situation reportedly escalated quickly.
According to WDW Active Crime, the suspect was initially approached by Universal personnel and escorted toward the park’s loss prevention office. Reports indicate the individual initially cooperated with employees during the investigation.
But before the process could reportedly be completed, investigators say the suspect allegedly fled.
Deputies assigned to off-duty security operations at Epic Universe were then alerted, leading to a chase that reportedly moved through areas including Isle of Berk and Celestial Park before the suspect was eventually stopped.

Authorities also alleged the suspect resisted efforts to be taken into custody. According to the report, deputies performed a takedown before additional officers arrived to assist with the arrest.
The suspect was later charged with petit theft and resisting an officer without violence.
While the situation itself grabbed attention, many theme park fans were just as interested in the details surrounding Universal’s security operation.
According to WDW Active Crime, deputies assigned to Epic Universe were reportedly working in full Orange County Sheriff’s Office uniforms and using marked patrol vehicles while assisting with park enforcement operations.
That creates a noticeably different atmosphere compared to what many guests may expect from a traditional theme park environment.
Most visitors spending the day at Epic Universe probably never think about how much coordination exists between theme park security teams and local law enforcement. But this latest report suggests Universal has built a very active partnership with deputies stationed on property.
And honestly, it makes sense considering how crowded Epic Universe has become.

The park has turned into one of the most in-demand vacation destinations in Florida almost immediately after opening. Between Harry Potter, SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, How to Train Your Dragon, Dark Universe, and the massive amount of exclusive merchandise sold across the park, Epic Universe operates on a gigantic scale every single day.
Large crowds naturally create more opportunities for theft.
That is likely one reason Universal appears to be taking such a hard stance on shoplifting incidents, even when the merchandise value involved seems relatively minor.
A $24 theft might not sound significant by itself, but the situation reportedly becoming a parkwide pursuit completely changes the story.

And from Universal’s perspective, allowing theft incidents to go unchecked during the park’s opening period could quickly create bigger operational problems.
Most guests visiting Epic Universe will simply enjoy the attractions, buy souvenirs, and head home without ever noticing the security operation surrounding them.
Still, reports like this reveal just how much enforcement is happening behind the scenes as Universal continues managing enormous attendance levels at its newest theme park.
