With Rivers of Light officially premiering at Animal Kingdom on April 22, we have been reflecting on all of the night time shows and entertainment that Disney World has to offer. In thinking about the fireworks, nighttime parades, and entertainment, we have settled on Fantasmic as the best show at Disney World – and here are our six reasons why we think that!
6 – Hollywood Studios at Night – Fantasmic is shown at least once a night at the Hollywood Hills Theatre behind Tower of Terror. Even though there aren’t a whole lot of attractions at the Studios right now, we love how the park looks at night with all of the neon lit up and casting a vast array of color all over the streets of Hollywood. Since we are rarely in the park after dark, we always forget how amazing the park looks at night.
5 – Plenty of Seating – we much prefer finding a seat at Fantasmic than jockeying for a spot on Main Street to be able to watch Wishes. The theatre is expansive and can seat more that 7,500 guests so there is always a place to sit with a great view. Even more amazing is the snack stand you pass as you enter the ampitheatre – you’ll definitely want to grab a Mickey pretzel or some popcorn before setting in for the show!
4 – Dinner Package – specific restaurants at Hollywood Studios offer a specialty dinner package for guests wishing to enjoy Fantasmic, as well. After eating your food, your server will provide you with a ticket that will grant you access to the show in a designated seating area. Make sure to specifically reserve this package when making your dining reservations because the number of tickets allotted for the dinner package are limited!
3 – Characters Galore – we love the ending sequence of Fantasmic with the multitude of characters on the boat – princesses, classic characters, the Seven Dwarfs, and even hard to find characters like Br’er Bear! We are happy to look past all of the continuity issues to enjoy seeing all of our favorites at the same time! We just wish they’d all be available for meet and greets after the show!

2 – Water Screens – we love how Fantasmic incorporates live entertainment and music with the use of water screens to tell the story. Projections are shown on the water screens at various points during the performance. It is also refreshing on hot summer nights when there is a little bit of breeze and it helps cool you down!
1 – Sorcerer Mickey – we love Sorcerer Mickey and love his appearance at the climax of the show – we are just a little stumped on how he manages to get changed so quickly between his robes and his tuxedo at the end!
Rivers of Light may give Fantasmic a run for its money when it premieres in April and will probably draw crowds away from Hollywood Studios, but for all of the reasons above and the feeling we have as we walk out of the ampitheatre, Fantasmic will always be our favorite show at Walt Disney World!
