6 Things You’ll Love About the Roaring Fork Restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Roaring Fork

Located inside Disney’s beautiful Wilderness Lodge Resort at Walt Disney World, the Roaring Fork counter-service restaurant offers up hearty comfort food at an affordable price. Whether you’re staying at Wilderness Lodge or make the voyage over there via boat, you’ll soon find yourself enjoying a relaxing meal in a rustic, cozy environment. Here are 6 things you’ll love about Roaring Fork!

6. The Atmosphere

Prior to a renovation in 2017, the inside seating area—which has always been on the small side, and is no different in that respect now—felt like a vaguely Wilderness Lodge-themed hotel cafeteria. Thankfully, they put in new, more modern-looking flooring, along with tables and chairs in a dark wood. Together, these updated features truly bring out more of that rustic feel they were aiming for in the first place. On a similar note, the outside seating area got revamped from a handful of umbrella-topped tables to a large covered space (with ceiling fans!) that feels very comfortable to eat in even in the summertime.

5. Breakfast

Every single item on Roaring Fork’s breakfast menu is to die for. Bananas foster French toast? 10-hour pulled pork-cheese grits topped with chipotle-apple barbecue sauce and a poached egg? A breakfast flatbread with sausage gravy? Who do they even think they are, offering this many scrumptious morning meals in one place? Well, there’s nothing for it—we’ll just have to order it all and regret nothing.

4. Grab-and-Go Selections

One of the best things about Roaring Fork has always been their grab-and-go selections. If you’re in a hurry and don’t want to wait for a meal to be cooked, they offer a surprisingly large variety of items (some of which are prepackaged) that are ready to go, including pastries, fruits (both whole and fresh-cut), salads, sandwiches, sweet treats, and a wide variety of bottled beverages.

3. Stick-to-Your-Ribs Lunch and Dinner Grub

With such generous portion sizes of their comfort food-inspired grub, the lunch and dinner menus at Roaring Fork make me think of a saying my grandpa used to tell me at certain restaurants: “If you leave here hungry, it’s your own fault.” That is to say, there’s no reason you should walk out of roaring fork without your belly feeling niiiiiiice and full. Remember that 10-hour pulled pork with chipotle-apple barbecue sauce from the breakfast menu? How about eating that on a sweet brioche bun with creamy coleslaw? It’s a mouth-watering thought, right? How about a burger topped with slices of brisket, Tillamook cheddar cheese, cranberry barbecue sauce, apple frisée, and cast iron onions? Yum!

2. Sweet Treats

As we mentioned in the “Grab-and-Go Selections” section earlier in this post, Roaring Fork has a variety of tasty treats to appease any sweet tooth. From their maple bacon donut to the fruit croissant with pastry creme, you won’t be disappointed with any of the desserts offered at this eatery. The standout item on the dessert menu is, of course, the Campfire Cupcake. It’s a chocolate cupcake both filled and topped with marshmallow icing, sprinkled with cookie crumb “dirt”, and topped with a cute little “campfire” made from yellow-and-red icing and some crunchy candy rocks. The miniature roasted marshmallow on top of all that is a great touch.

1. Speed of Service

As a counter-service operation, Roaring Fork is the kind of place with a quick turnaround time for meals, whether or not you’re picking up anything from the grab-and-go wall. This is a great thing for anyone who wants to hurry up and get outside to the resort pool or take a boat right back over to Magic Kingdom to squeeze in some more rides and shows.

I hope this article shows you how Roaring Forks at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has become a top-tier (or at least middle-tier) dining destination when you visit Walt Disney World. They’ve got a wide variety of things to try and you’ll never have to wait long to eat whichever thing you choose, making it an ideal choice for families. Go give Roaring Fork a try! You’ll be glad you did.
