5, 4, & 3. Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante / Pizza Ponte / Enzo’s Hideaway – The Landing, Disney Springs
This trio of concept eateries, each with its own spin on Italian fare under a shared “backstory”, opened one-at-a-time throughout this past winter (December 2017 and January 2018).
The story goes that Maria and Enzo, a husband and wife who immigrated from Italy, once ran a bakery out of the airline terminal in Disney Springs. When the terminal was shut down, they opened their own place, Pizza Ponte, that served Sicilian-style pizza by the slice. Folks loved the place so much that the couple was then able to buy the old airline terminal and transform it into an air travel-themed trattoria known simply as Maria & Enzo’s Ristorante. During the renovation process, Enzo discovered a network of Prohibition-era rum runner tunnels underneath the restaurant, inspiring him to open a speakeasy called Enzo’s Hideaway.
The story alone was enough to get us in the door, but thankfully the food and drink at all three locations blew us away.
- At Maria & Enzo’s, you can’t go wrong with the grilled swordfish steak with salmoriglio sauce.
- At Pizza Ponte, you’ll want a slice of the spicy Porchetta pizza, topped with pancetta, hot peppers, and onion.
- Enzo’s hideaway is mostly about its extensive liquor menu, but you can still get yourself a classic pasta dish, such as their hearty lasagna.
These three restaurants are definitely places you’ve gotta try!
