It happens more often than most guests account for when they plan their trips, and April 2026 was a particularly active month for closure announcements across the Disney Parks universe.
Eight closures dropped this month, spanning Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Disney Springs, and the guests who know about all of them before they travel are going to have a very different experience than the ones who find out on the day.
The One That Is Gone Forever
Aquatopia at Tokyo DisneySea is closing permanently on September 14, 2026. The trackless water ride has been part of the park since its opening day, and its permanent closure marks the end of something that has existed for the entirety of Tokyo DisneySea's history. The Oriental Land Company is reimagining the Port Discovery section of the park, and Aquatopia does not fit into the plans for what comes next. If this ride is on your bucket list, the clock is running, and September 14 is the date that matters.
The Disney Springs Store That Is Not Coming Back
Shore, the clothing store at Disney Springs, is closing permanently on April 30, 2026. This follows the permanent closures of Sprinkles Cupcakes and Francesca's at the district earlier this year, continuing a pattern of retail turnover at the outdoor shopping destination. Disney has not announced what is moving into the Shore space, so guests who wanted to visit the store are working with a hard deadline.
Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Is Going Down
Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland is closing for refurbishment on May 4 with no announced return date. This is one of the most visited attractions in Disneyland's history, and its absence from the operating lineup is the kind of closure that changes the shape of a park day for a lot of guests. Anyone with Disneyland plans in May or beyond needs to check the closure status before they go.
Hollywood Studios Losing Vacation Fun
Vacation Fun, An Original Animated Short with Mickey and Minnie at Disney's Hollywood Studios, closed temporarily on April 29. Disney has said it will reopen later this year without providing a specific timeline. Another one to keep watching.
Walt Disney World Transportation Is Getting Complicated
Two boat docks at Walt Disney World resorts are offline this spring. The boat dock at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is closed for routine maintenance from May 11 through late June, pushing Polynesian guests onto the Monorail to reach Magic Kingdom during that window. The docks and boats at Disney's Wilderness Lodge are closed for refurbishment from April 13 through May 1, with buses replacing the boat service between the resort and Magic Kingdom.
The Golf Course Taking a Break
Disney's Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is closing for refurbishment from approximately May 4 through early fall. The renovation covers new contouring, upgraded irrigation, and drainage improvements. Guests who want to golf during the closure have three other courses on Disney property near Magic Kingdom, including Shades of Green.
The Pop Century Pool Situation
The Kiddie Pool Deck at Disney's Pop Century Resort was briefly closed from April 13 through late April for routine maintenance. The closure was short-term and should be resolved by May for families with upcoming stays at the resort.
