8 Things Not to Miss in Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland

Adventureland

Adventureland melds the mystery and exoticism of faraway lands for you to explore and enjoy. If visiting Magic Kingdom in the morning, be sure to head to Adventureland first. People are predisposed to head to their right to Tomorrowland or head straight through Cinderella’s Castle and go to Fantasyland. Very often lines in Adventureland are minimal until mid to late morning! While you are enjoying your time in Adventureland, be sure to check out these eight things:

8 – Magic Carpets of Aladdin – subject to some controversy based on its placement in Adventureland, there is still much to enjoy at this attraction. First, if you are approaching the ride from the Hub, be careful of where you stop. The camels at the front of the ride do spit at you! The ride is also enjoyable and can be a great alternative to Dumbo if the line at Dumbo is too long.

7 – Tortuga Tavern – located across from Pirates of the Caribbean, this counter-service restaurant is open only during very busy times of the year, usually during lunch. The restaurant serves a variety of burritos and rice bowls. This is a much less busy alternative to Peco’s Bills in Frontierland if you’re looking for a quick bite!

6 – Sunshine Tree Terrace – go visit the Orange Bird at his new location. If you haven’t been recently, Sunshine Tree Terrace and Aloha Isle have switched locations, so if you are craving a citrus swirl (which is my personal favorite), you’ll find them at the entrance to Adventureland!

5 – Swiss Family Treehouse – one of my favorite places to explore at my own pace is Swiss Family Treehouse. The attraction is always walk-on and there are rarely lots of people experiencing it. You get to walk through the Robinson treehouse and explore the different “rooms” inside of it. I also enjoy the treehouse because it offers you AMAZING views of Adventureland and of other areas of the Magic Kingdom. You can view the fireworks from up there – I definitely recommend experiencing this attraction after the sun has gone down.

4 – Pirates of the Caribbean – experience the high seas with this classic boat ride. No trip to Adventureland isn’t complete without a stop at this ride. If you ride with a small one, be sure to stop by the Pirates League kiosk afterward and they can be transformed into a swashbuckling buccaneer!

3 – Jungle Cruise – climb aboard one of the safari boats for a journey along the rivers of Africa, Asia, and South America and see the animals and culture of these areas. I always enjoy riding this attraction during Extra Magic Hours at night because if the party is mostly adult, you get a more adult version of the tour! If you are visiting during the holiday season, you are also treated to the holiday overlay version of the ride, “Jingle Cruise!”

2 – Aloha Isle – the most popular snack stand in Adventureland (and probably the entire park) serves one of the most popular snack foods – DOLE WHIP! This delicious soft-serve is a great way to cool down on a hot day in the park and is an amazing dessert to anything in the park.

1 – Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – one of the classic Walt Disney attractions, the Enchanted Tiki Room features a vast menagerie of Audio-Animatronic birds. The attraction generally does not have much of a line and you should be able to walk on without too much of a wait. I love the songs featured in the show and the atmosphere created by Imagineers once inside of the building. It is also my favorite spot to enjoy a citrus swirl (or a Dole Whip). It is also a great way to relax and cool down during a day in Magic Kingdom.

Adventureland has a lot to explore and enjoy with more to come soon! Disney recently announced that they will be opening a new table service restaurant in Adventureland. The restaurant is themed to the Jungle Cruise attraction! What is your favorite thing to do in Adventureland?
