Price Increases Take Effect for Individual Lightning Lane Attractions

With the recent launch of Disney Genie and Lightning Lane, we have been closely following the new programs to see how they worked and whether or not they seemed worth it for most Guests. Opinions on Disney Genie, and particularly Lightning Lane, so far have been mixed with some Guests seeing the value in purchasing a way to bypass long lines and others not finding it worth the added cost.

We recently wondered if prices for Lightning Lane attractions would increase, given that the app does include a disclaimer from Disney that pricing is subject to demand and change. In particular, we wondered about Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, as this attraction initially sold out all of its Lightning Lane availability within two days of the new program’s launch.

Guests using Lightning Lane today may notice some price increases for individual attractions, though ironically Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance has remained the same. Many of the more popular attractions have now increased pricing by about $2-3, including Avatar: Flight of Passage and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

We should note that at $15 per person per ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the most expensive attraction option to add onto your Lightning Lane account, so it is possible that the current expense is simply the reason why Disney has not raised the price on it.

While Disney has stated that the pricing is subject to change, we cannot know for sure what factors go into whether or not prices will change. Like everything else at Walt Disney World, especially since the cost of park tickets now vary by date, we do expect the busier days/weeks to be more costly for those looking to purchase Genie+ and Lightning Lane.
