NEW: Update Reveals Why Disney World Suddenly Closed Area Without Warning

It’s a situation few expected—Disney Springs, the shopping and entertainment district at Walt Disney World, hit maximum capacity on Valentine’s Day, forcing hundreds of guests to be turned away as parking filled up. While the parks are known for massive holiday crowds, seeing this kind of congestion at Disney Springs was a shock to many.

Thankfully, as of today, Disney Springs has returned to normal operations. The parking garages are open, and visitors can once again enjoy dining, shopping, and entertainment without restriction. However, this doesn’t mean the crowds are gone. With President’s Day weekend in full swing, all of Walt Disney World is expected to remain packed through Monday, February 17.

Why This Weekend Is So Busy

President’s Day weekend has long been a peak travel period for Disney World. Many school districts offer extended time off, leading to a surge of families traveling from colder states. The mild February weather also attracts visitors who want to avoid Florida’s summer heat. In addition, events like RunDisney races and cheerleading competitions add thousands of extra guests to the mix.

All of this results in longer lines, increased demand for dining reservations, and crowded transportation options. While Disney Springs is open again, it may still be challenging to find parking or get into popular restaurants over the next few days.

How to Navigate the Crowds

For guests visiting Disney World this weekend, preparation is key. Arriving early, booking dining reservations in advance, and using mobile ordering can help reduce stress. Those looking for an escape from the park crowds may still find Disney Springs busy, especially in the evenings, but it remains a good alternative to the packed theme parks.

With Spring Break just around the corner, this level of congestion may become the norm for the next several weeks. If you're planning a trip soon, expect high crowd levels and plan accordingly to make the most of your visit.
