Disney World To Reject Thousands of Guests in the Coming Weeks

Walt Disney World Resort is preparing for another round of guest capacity issues at one of its popular water parks as spring break crowds descend upon Central Florida.

As the weather warms up, more and more Disney Resort hotel guests are flocking to Disney’s water parks, taking advantage of one of the resort’s few perks — free access to water parks for hotel guests on their check-in day. However, with the rising number of visitors and the upcoming spring break surge, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park has already seen capacity issues.

Currently, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is the only active water park, as Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remains closed for maintenance until May 1, 2025. When Typhoon Lagoon reopens, it will temporarily absorb the problem, as Blizzard Beach will close for maintenance until May 20. Then, both Walt Disney World Resort water parks will be operational from May 21 to September 7, offering Central Florida guests some relief from capacity constraints.

This isn’t the first time Blizzard Beach has faced unexpected closures. Earlier this year, low temperatures and inclement weather forced the water park to close for several days, denying guests access. However, the tides have shifted, and now, the situation is more about overcrowding than weather-related closures.

Blizzard Beach has hit its capacity limits multiple times over the last few weeks, with Disney cast members turning away guests at the entrance. As the spring break crowds grow, this trend will likely continue. Guests should anticipate these denials becoming more frequent in the coming weeks, particularly as the Easter holiday nears.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will likely experience similar capacity issues when it reopens on May 1. Until both parks are open on May 21, guests are encouraged to plan accordingly, arriving early, taking advantage of Mobile Ordering for meals and snacks, and starting their visits on weekdays when crowds are typically smaller.

For those visiting Walt Disney World Resort during this busy period, keeping an eye on capacity limitations and potential closures will be crucial. The upcoming spring break period is expected to bring more guests than usual, and while Disney is doing its best to accommodate visitors, the reality is that some guests may find themselves locked out of the water parks due to capacity restrictions.
