If you’re heading to Disney World this fall, don’t be surprised if things look a little different. From exciting new parades to temporary closures and future expansions, Walt Disney World is in the middle of a major seasonal transition. Here's what families should know before arriving at the parks this fall.
One of the most exciting additions is Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, a new nighttime parade running at Magic Kingdom. Debuting July 20, the show features glowing floats, beloved characters, and a whimsical train named Whimsy that leads the way. It’s a modern nod to the parades of Disney’s past.
Meanwhile at EPCOT, Test Track 3.0 officially opens to guests on July 22. This updated ride includes a reimagined experience with new visuals and design elements, offering guests something familiar but fresh.
However, a few favorites won’t be available. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is closed for the remainder of the year as Disney prepares to introduce two new areas nearby: one based on Cars, the other themed around Disney villains. Along with that, Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America have permanently closed.
Guests visiting in August should also be aware that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will go down for refurbishment on August 4. A reopening date hasn’t been confirmed, but the closure is expected to last into 2026.
At Animal Kingdom, Zootopia: Better Together will premiere inside the Tree of Life this winter, replacing It’s Tough to Be a Bug. This show coincides with the release of Zootopia 2, offering a timely, family-friendly experience.
Over at Hollywood Studios, the park is preparing for a new Monsters, Inc. land, which means MuppetVision 3D has closed. While it’s sad to see it go, the Muppets will return next year in a reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
And for transportation and water park plans: Skyliner will close for maintenance in January 2026, and Typhoon Lagoon is expected to close in early September, with Blizzard Beach reopening later in the fall.
With a little planning, your Disney vacation this fall can still be filled with wonder, magic, and plenty of new memories.
