Well, it’s official—Magic Kingdom’s newest nighttime parade, Starlight: Dream the Night Away, won’t be performing every single night. And if you’re a Disney fan already planning your holiday trip, that might just change your entire strategy.

The new parade is set to launch July 20, 2025, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the biggest entertainment additions we’ve seen in years. Disney has confirmed it’ll perform twice nightly, giving guests a chance to catch it either at 9 p.m. or 11 p.m. But there’s a twist: it won’t be happening on nights when the park hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
Why? Because those parties come with their own exclusive parades—Boo-to-You for Halloween and Once Upon a Christmastime for Christmas. Disney doesn’t want to double up, which makes sense, but it also means a lot of people who bought tickets thinking they’d get to see the newest parade may be disappointed.

Let’s be real—after years of not having a nighttime parade at Magic Kingdom, the hype for Starlight is huge. Fans have been begging for a new version ever since Main Street Electrical Parade faded into retirement. And while it’s great that Starlight is finally here, the fact that it skips so many party nights could throw a wrench into plans.
If you’ve already booked your trip and didn’t realize this, don’t panic. There are still plenty of non-party nights sprinkled throughout the fall and winter, especially during weekdays. But if your vacation happens to line up with a party night—and you don’t have a separate ticket—you might be out of luck.
That said, there are still two big upsides to look forward to. First, Disney is keeping the Festival of Fantasy Parade in the afternoon lineup, so daytime entertainment isn’t going anywhere. Second, if you’re visiting on a regular night, you now have two chances to see Starlight, and the 11 p.m. showing might even offer lighter crowds.

Oh, and here’s a cool detail—Starlight will take a reversed route from what most guests are used to. Instead of starting near Frontierland and ending on Main Street, it’s going the other way around. Disney says it’s a crowd control move, but fans are curious to see how it actually feels in person.
So yes, Starlight: Dream the Night Away is coming—and it looks amazing. Just don’t assume it’ll be running every night you visit. Check the event calendar, look for party-free evenings, and then get ready to dream a little brighter under those Magic Kingdom stars.
