A vibrant new tradition is taking shape at Magic Kingdom Park, where timeless storytelling meets the glow of cutting-edge technology. As Walt Disney World prepares to launch its all-new nighttime parade, Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, Annual Passholders are being asked to plan ahead—because for the first time in recent memory, access to Magic Kingdom will be restricted for three straight days.
The dazzling new parade, officially set to debut on Sunday, July 20, 2025, is a luminous tribute to the legacy of the Main Street Electrical Parade, infused with today’s most advanced lighting and projection innovations. “Dreamscapes” crafted entirely out of light will flow down Main Street, U.S.A., transforming the park into a vibrant canvas of storytelling at 9:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. each evening.

The creative minds behind the show offered a glimpse into the magic, noting: “When we think about what this storytelling looks like at night, we think about creating these landscapes—or dreamscapes, as we think about them—out of light. Today’s technology gives us more options than ever to use lighting and video elements as a storytelling tool.”
With anticipation running high, the Theme Park Reservation System has implemented a temporary adjustment for Annual Passholders. On July 20, those looking to visit Magic Kingdom—even after 2:00 p.m.—must have an existing reservation. The update breaks from the usual rule, which allows Passholders to hop parks after 2 p.m. without a reservation, except on weekends at Magic Kingdom.

“Due to anticipated high demand upon the debut of the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade on July 20, 2025, Passholders visiting Magic Kingdom park at any time of day (including after 2 p.m.) must have a theme park reservation,” reads the official policy update.
Unfortunately, those reservations have already hit capacity. As first reported by WDWMagic, the Magic Kingdom reservation calendar for Annual Passholders is now full for the parade’s debut day. That limited access has now extended to July 21 and 22 as well, with those dates also showing no availability for APs. As of now, Passholders without existing reservations will not be able to enter Magic Kingdom on any of those three days.
That said, it’s worth checking back often—reservations can and do reopen as other guests make changes.

This temporary change arrives amid an exciting era of evolution for Magic Kingdom. In addition to nighttime enhancements, sweeping updates are on the horizon. Frontierland, one of the park’s most cherished original lands, is being reimagined in ways that celebrate its roots while branching into bold new territory.
The upcoming Beyond Big Thunder expansion promises imaginative new worlds—including Piston Peak National Park, from Cars, and an entire land devoted to the world of Disney Villains. While timelines remain under wraps, these developments signal a thrilling future ahead for the park.
As excitement builds for the parade’s debut and the park’s next chapter, one thing is clear: guests—especially Passholders—will want to keep those reservation calendars close at hand.
