A trip to Disney World is supposed to be all smiles and pixie dust—but for one guest, a meal inside Magic Kingdom turned into something much more serious.
According to a new lawsuit, a guest fell ill after eating a salad at the popular Be Our Guest Restaurant, ultimately ending up in the hospital. The incident has sparked legal action and raised questions about food safety at one of Disney World’s most beloved dining spots.

The guest claims they were served a contaminated salad while dining at Be Our Guest, which is located inside the iconic Beast’s Castle in Fantasyland. The restaurant is known for its immersive setting and French-inspired menu, which typically gets rave reviews from parkgoers. Unfortunately, this particular meal didn’t end with “happily ever after.”
The guest reportedly experienced extreme gastrointestinal symptoms not long after finishing the meal and was eventually admitted to a hospital due to the severity of the illness. The lawsuit suggests the salad was improperly prepared or stored, although no specific bacteria or substance has been publicly named.
They’re now suing for damages, hoping to cover medical expenses and compensation for the pain and disruption it caused. According to court filings, the guest had traveled to Florida specifically to experience Disney, and the illness forced them to cancel several park days.

Disney has not released an official comment on the matter, and the lawsuit is still in its early stages. But it’s definitely catching the attention of fans—especially those with upcoming dining reservations.
Be Our Guest Restaurant is a major fixture at Magic Kingdom, often booked out weeks in advance. Guests are drawn to its grand ballroom, West Wing, and menu that includes signature entrées like filet mignon, ratatouille, and “The Grey Stuff.” With that kind of reputation, the idea of a guest getting seriously ill there feels almost unthinkable.

That said, food-related incidents at Disney are extremely rare. The parks operate under strict sanitation guidelines, and restaurant inspections are a regular part of Florida health codes. Most guests never encounter any issues, and the overwhelming majority of meals served are perfectly safe.
Still, when something does go wrong, it draws attention—especially when it leads to hospitalization. Fans on social media have already started debating the incident, with some calling it a freak accident and others demanding more transparency from Disney.
At the end of the day, whether you’re enjoying a churro or sitting down in a grand castle for dinner, guests expect Disney to deliver both magic and safety. If this case proves valid, Disney could be on the hook not just for damages—but for rebuilding trust in one of its most magical dining experiences.
