Hollywood Studios is no stranger to big changes, but the next few weeks will bring a wave of nostalgia and goodbyes. The park, which has been steadily moving away from its behind-the-scenes Hollywood roots toward more immersive, IP-focused lands, is preparing to shutter two of its classic attractions for good.

For months, fans noticed hints of change: construction walls appearing overnight, attraction downtime becoming more frequent, and new project announcements like Monsters, Inc. Land replacing Muppet Courtyard. The recent closure of Muppet*Vision 3-D to make way for a Muppets-themed roller coaster was already a blow to loyal visitors. Now, two more fixtures have an official closing date.
Disney has announced that September 24, 2025, will be the final operating day for both Star Wars Launch Bay and Disney Jr. Play and Dance! in the Animation Courtyard. The following day, work will begin to transform the area into The Magic of Disney Animation, inspired by the short film Once Upon a Studio. This refreshed space will offer interactive features such as living portraits, a drawing class, a themed short film, and Drawn to Wonderland—a whimsical playground inspired by Mary Blair’s iconic art.

The redesign will also bring back a beloved piece of park history: Mickey’s Sorcerer Hat. The updated version will be incorporated into a facade modeled after Walt Disney Studios in Burbank. The entry arch will be removed, and the surrounding architecture will be updated to match the new theme.
While the September closures are now set in stone, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith is still awaiting its own final date. The coaster will be reimagined into a high-energy Muppets adventure, rumored to follow Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem through a chaotic concert mishap. Construction work has already been spotted near the queue and surrounding areas, making many guests wonder how much longer they have to experience the original 1999 version with its signature Aerosmith soundtrack.
For longtime Hollywood Studios fans, this is a bittersweet moment—saying goodbye to staples of the park’s history while watching it reinvent itself for a new generation. If these attractions are on your must-do list, your time is running out. September 24 will be here before you know it.
