Disney Tries To Arrest Woman Over Unauthorized Photo of Mickey Mouse

A Disneyland Resort guest recently shared a story about ending up in what many fans call “Disney Jail” after cast members claimed she and her friends “harassed Mickey Mouse.” The woman, now an adult, said the incident occurred during her Grad Nite at the Southern California Disney park.

While rumors of “Disney Jail” have circulated online for years, the parks don’t have literal jails. There are, however, law enforcement personnel stationed on the property and security offices where Disney Park guests can be held for breaking rules or safety concerns.

TikTok user @riley.jolley recounted the moment she and her friends were taken into “Disney Jail” during Grad Nite. The video quickly garnered over 130,000 views and nearly 25,000 likes.

The guest explained that she and her friends spotted Mickey Mouse while walking through the park. They wanted a photo but decided the line was too long. Instead, they took a quick picture and video while walking past the character, careful not to interrupt anyone else’s meet-and-greet.

“We didn’t even stop walking,” the TikToker recalled. “…We didn’t get close to him because the line was way too long and we didn’t want to wait.”

Moments later, Disney cast members approached the group and asked if they had tried to take a picture with Mickey. The teens honestly said yes, but were stunned when they were told they were being apprehended for “harassing Mickey Mouse.”

“I was like, ‘Mickey Mouse as in…the fictional character or the person dressed in the costume?’” the Disney Park guest continued. “Because, what do you mean we just harassed Mickey Mouse? That doesn’t make any sense.”

The teens attempted to show the videos as evidence, but cast members insisted on taking them to “Disney Jail.”

“You can see, no one laid a hand on Mickey Mouse, no one laid a hand on the person dressed in the Mickey Mouse costume,” the TikToker said. “Your claims do not hold up.”

Expecting a colorful, themed holding area, the teens were surprised by what they found.

“It was gray,” the guest recalled. “It was obviously the saddest part about Disneyland.”

After the teens refused to admit to harassing Mickey, Disneyland Resort security called the Anaheim Police Department.

“We were like, ‘You can see the video. Nothing happened,’” the TikToker explained. “We were not backing down. We didn’t even touch Mickey.”

No charges were filed.

“They called Anaheim PD down, and when Anaheim got down here, they filled them in on what was happening, and Anaheim PD pretty much said, ‘This is a huge f**king waste of our time and we have so much to deal with,’ and they let us go,” the guest concluded. “But we were late back to the buses for Grad Nite, and we got in a lot of trouble.”

The group faced no further consequences from Disneyland Resort. Since the TikTok video was recorded inside Disney California Adventure Park, it’s clear that the guests weren’t permanently banned from the Southern California theme parks.

Some TikTok viewers felt the group should have taken legal action against Disneyland Resort for the false harassment claim.

“I’m so surprised this is not a lawsuit because they pretty much wasted your time because you didn’t harass Mickey Mouse,” @nicklifestyle0 commented. “Even worse, they wasted Anaheim police’s time plus you got in tons of trouble with the school because of it.”

“Sue,” @grace_budekk replied.
