Few Disney parks carry the reputation of Tokyo DisneySea. Since opening in 2001, it has earned a near-mythic status among fans for its ocean theme, cinematic detail, and atmosphere unlike anything in Florida or California. Long hailed as Disney’s most ambitious park, it continues to set the standard for design and storytelling.
That reputation will soon be tested with one of its largest celebrations to date.

Disney's Ongoing Global Expansion
Disney’s theme park division is in the midst of a historic investment period. The company has committed $60 billion worldwide, transforming nearly every resort. Walt Disney World is preparing a Disney Villains area at Magic Kingdom, a Tropical Americas section at Animal Kingdom, and a Monsters, Inc. land alongside a reimagined Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Internationally, Shanghai Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris are also pushing through large-scale expansions.
Tokyo Disney Resort sits apart. Because it is owned by The Oriental Land Company, it is not part of Disney’s global spending plan. Yet its pace of growth rivals any park in the portfolio. Fantasy Springs, a land inspired by Frozen, Tangled, and Peter Pan, opened this year at Tokyo DisneySea to strong reviews. Tokyo Disneyland is preparing an updated Space Mountain and a new Wreck-It Ralph ride in Tomorrowland. Now, attention turns to a milestone unlike any other in the park’s history.

A Year in Jubilee Blue
From April 15, 2026, to March 31, 2027, Tokyo DisneySea will mark its 25th anniversary with the Sparkling Jubilee. The theme hinges on “jubilee blue,” a shade chosen to reflect the beauty of the ocean while unifying the decorations, costumes, and overall mood. Disney has confirmed that ornate set pieces, environmental effects, and dazzling light displays will transform the park into the setting of a year-long festival.
Mediterranean Harbor will anchor the event with a new entertainment program featuring Disney characters dressed in Jubilee Blue, specifically created to honor the anniversary. Guests can also anticipate “Dance the Globe,” a stage show debuting January 14, 2026, at American Waterfront’s Waterfront Park. The production celebrates international music and dance styles, bringing together characters such as Mirabel, Rapunzel, and Hiro.

The celebration extends beyond performances. Restaurants across the park, along with limited-time food wagons, will introduce themed menus, and the Tokyo DisneySea Food & Wine Festival will return for the occasion. Exclusive merchandise, including Jubilee Blue badges and a 25th anniversary line from Duffy & Friends, will give fans another way to remember the year.
Setting the Standard
Tokyo DisneySea has often been described as the most impressive park Disney has ever built (although some have disagreed with this honor lately), in part because it blends scale with originality. Its anniversary plans reinforce that standing. Rather than simply revisiting familiar parades and shows, the resort is emphasizing an entirely new layer of entertainment, dining, and design.

Coming off the debut of Fantasy Springs, the Sparkling Jubilee underscores a clear message: even without Disney’s direct investment, Tokyo Disney Resort intends to remain a benchmark for theme park storytelling. For fans, the next two years will bring some of the most ambitious changes in the park’s history — and a celebration that highlights why Tokyo DisneySea continues to capture imaginations worldwide.
