The Countdown Is On: Disney Sets the Date for DINOSAUR Demolition

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will bid farewell to several long-standing attractions and dining experiences as the park confirms that DINOSAUR, The Dino Institute Shop, Restaurantosaurus, and Restaurantosaurus Lounge will close on February 1, 2026. The closures mark the start of a major transformation of the DinoLand U.S.A. area, making way for the upcoming Tropical Americas land, which is slated to open in 2027.

The End of An Era

The upcoming expansion is set to deliver a fresh wave of adventure to Animal Kingdom, featuring major attractions themed around Disney’s Encanto and the Indiana Jones franchise. Guests can anticipate immersive rides, interactive experiences, and themed dining that will bring new layers of storytelling to this corner of the park.

DINOSAUR has captivated visitors for more than two decades with its time-traveling journey through prehistoric landscapes. The Dino Institute Shop and the fan-favorite dining destinations, Restaurantosaurus and Restaurantosaurus Lounge, will also close, giving Disney room to fully reimagine the space for its next chapter.

The Tropical Americas land, featuring major Encanto and Indiana Jones attractions, is set to open in 2027.

What Can Fans Expect?

While full details about the Tropical Americas land remain under wraps, early concept art and announcements suggest a combination of high-energy thrill rides, family-friendly adventures, and visually rich environments that highlight both Disney’s storytelling magic and classic adventure film excitement.

Disney encourages fans to plan visits before February 2026 to experience DINOSAUR and the surrounding area in its current form. Following the closure, construction will ramp up for Tropical Americas, a project expected to redefine the guest experience in this part of Animal Kingdom.

  2. Guess again you fool! The might get cancelled before then. Especially if when a new replacement CEO would give the order. So be prepared for the unexpected you fraud site.
