Walt Disney World Resort is one of America’s most popular vacation destinations. It contains four theme parks (Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom), two water parks, dozens of hotels, golf courses, Disney Springs, and many other activities to enjoy.

But one of its world-class theme parks has just been ranked the worst in America. Why? Let’s explore…

Ride Wait Times

One of the most significant issues documented at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the issue of ride capacity (and rides in general). Two of the newest attractions, Avatar: Flight of Passage and the Na’vi River Journey, often have some of the longest lines in all of Walt Disney World Resort.

Part of this comes from the fact that Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a limited number of rides, shows, and other attractions. As such, guests are often hard-pressed to find anything to do other than ride the same six things repeatedly.

Quality Control Issues

Disney’s Animal Kingdom seems to have issues with multiple attractions constantly. First is the issue of the Tree of Life at the theme park’s center. Did you know it’s actually dead?

There is also the issue of the Dinosaur ride, which is rethemed every ten years (with the latest reports of it changing to Indiana Jones).

There have also been reports of animal problems on the Kilimanjaro Safaris, such as one vehicle running over a giraffe.

Despite Expedition Everest being one of the most popular thrill rides in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it’s also had a malfunctioning audio-animatronic for decades.

Worst Theme Park in America

Because of the reasons mentioned above, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has officially topped the list as the “worst theme park in America.” It’s not the first time this Disney park has been on the list of worst theme parks, but it is the first time it has topped the list.

The official ranking came with the following statement:

“Animal Kingdom is a forgettable experience. If you have limited days at Disney World, don’t waste your time at this glorified zoo.”

The harsh ranking of the 25-year-old Disney theme park has not been met without controversy. Some have defended the Disney park despite having no Star Wars, Marvel, or Beastly Kingdom.

Many have been wondering if this poor ranking could lead to a complete overhaul of the theme park. While others may be wondering if this story is actually true. To be honest…it’s not!

The actual story of Mouse Trap News also concludes with sources claiming the park may be closing soon. Despite this last part being unlikely, the fact of the matter is Disney’s Animal Kingdom has had many attractions on the cutting block lately.

Is it the right choice for Walt Disney World Resort? Time will tell…

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
