Many people love Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Those who have visited either vacation destination know the magic they inspire.
That’s why people plan to return frequently (despite the price and living in different states), buy souvenirs, and follow Disney-themed influencers, news, and media. And many of us would love nothing more than to have the magic of Disney attractions in their home or backyard.

Backyard Disneyland
Enter architect and Disney fan David Sheegog. Living in California, near the original Disneyland Park, he has spent years building his own mini-version of the theme park in his backyard.
Much like Walt E. Disney, David has a love of model trains. What began as a simple passion in his backyard has since spawned into him developing his own Disneyland Park.

Splash Mountain, Sleeping Beauty Castle, the Haunted Mansion, and many other attractions and park icons can be spotted throughout the elaborate model.
The project has been 20 years in the making, and he has since named the site Castle Peak and Thunder Railroad. His website (which can be viewed here) contains multiple videos highlighting the project’s history, art, and magic.
Sheegog also hosts open houses, where guests can enter and tour the backyard theme park for FREE. However, the open houses are limited to 250 guests per day due to capacity issues.

The mini park also has working lights, active water features such as fountains, Splash Mountain water effects, and lagoons.
Some unique elements of his railroad model include attractions and items you won’t find at Disneyland Park (or even Magic Kingdom Park). These are homages such as Pride Ride from The Lion King (1994), Carl’s House from Up (2009), Skull Rock from Peter Pan (1953), and Jabba’s Palace from Star Wars Return of the Jedi (1983).
