Walt Disney World Resort offers many attractions that have “blasters,” such as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Pirates of the Caribbean. Meanwhile, others actually put toy weapons in guests’ hands, such as Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

But what about guests showing up with their own guns and firearms? According to one new outlet, it not only can happen. But it IS the new policy of Walt Disney World Resort due to pressure from outside groups.

Many would-be Disney guests have canceled recent trips over how dangerous theme parks have become. There appears to be a record number of fights between Disney Park guests and tiffs between guests and cast members. In the past year, some of these have included brawls over line jumping, seats for nighttime shows, and people trying to take pictures.

Unfortunately, this trend doesn’t seem to be happening only at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort but at other theme parks in the country as well. Enter…Walt Disney World’s new open carry firearm policy.

Walt Disney World Resort has never allowed an open gun policy on its grounds; it has had exceptions for on-duty police officers and other officials. But now, Disney has introduced a new controversial policy that allows average guests to bring their own firearms inside the park.

The policy has been outlined on the Disney World website. But can you (or anyone) imagine someone walking down Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park with an AK-47? Neither did we. In fact, the entire news story is a satirical piece published on the Disney parody new site Mouse Trap News.

Second Amendment Satire

The satirical story further states that Walt Disney World and Disneyland have seceded from the United States and are not bound by U.S. law. It further speculates that Walt Disney World Resort is preparing for World War III.

In addition to playing on the idea of Second Amendment debates that come up every election year, the story ties into recent Disney Park fights. When you add in the Disney vs. DeSantis debate and the 2024 election, there’s no shortage of Disney Park satire that can be fabricated.

As of now, there appear to be no official plans for Walt Disney World Resort to change its current policy.

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
