Magic Kingdom Park is known as “The Most Magical Place on Earth,” and Disneyland Park is “The Happiest Place on Earth.” But neither is known as “The Darkest Place on Earth.” But that’s what some guests experienced in Anaheim.

The image of Main Street, U.S.A., with nearly 100% of its power out, is a shocking sight to see. The Walt Disney Company (and its many theme parks) prides itself on quality and ensuring everything works properly.

But last night, Disneyland Park went dark. A sudden power outage forced many sections of the famous theme park into darkness last night. Why exactly? No one knows…

Mystery

The unexpected incident has spread on social media platforms, and as expected, theories, rumors, and questions poured out from all avenues. As the story made its rounds, some speculated it could have been the result of a technical glitch due to the complicated and immense electrical infrastructure of the Disney Park.

Others, however, wondered if the cause could have been weather conditions or maintenance issues. There have also been issues with the power grid in California in the past year.

Despite the inconvenience caused by the theme park power outage, Disneyland Resort’s commitment to satisfaction shone through. Relatively quickly, the power was restored, presumably restoring the magic of the night.

About Steven

Steven has a complicated relationship with Disney. As a child, he visited Walt Disney World every few years with his family. But he never understood why kids his age (and older) were so scared of Snow White or Alien Encounter. He is a former participant of the Disney College Program (left early…long story), and he also previously worked in Children’s publishing, where he adapted multiple Disney movies and TV shows. He has many controversial opinions about Disney…like having a positive view of Michael Eisner, believing Return of the Jedi is superior to The Empire Strikes Back, and that Toy Story Land and Galaxy’s Edge should have never been built (at least not at Hollywood Studios). Every year for the past two decades, Steven has visited either Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Aulani or went on a Disney Cruise. He’s happy to share any and all knowledge of the Disney destinations (and he likes using parenthesis a lot…as well as ellipses…)
