Disney Park Suffers Power Outage, Guests Evacuated from Rides

Disney Park Power Outage

On Thursday, October 20, a Disney Park lost power and sparked evacuations from attractions and restaurants.

Fortunately, though, the outage occurred in the middle of the day. But, while most of the visual drama stops here, the accident sparks speculation of power concerns that extend beyond the boundaries of the Resort.

The outage occurred at Walt Disney Studios Park at the Disneyland Paris Resort. Theme Park Insiders and other Guests took to social media to share their experience as they were evacuated to the thoroughfares from attractions and restaurants. Shows were reportedly canceled, and the outside music was even shut off.

The power outage was reported to last a few hours but was reported by some to spread as far as the Resorts. Disneyland Paris’ Parc Disneyland reportedly remained unaffected.

While this could be viewed as a minor inconvenience, it comes shortly after French President Emmanuel Macron announced his “energy sobriety” campaign to curb an impending crisis in a nation still largely dependent upon Russia for its oil and gas. While no official means of energy rationing or blackouts have been announced yet, concern for Parisian tourism and Disneyland Paris lingers in the air as another winter approaches. It should be noted that there is no official recognition of any connection between the looming energy crisis and the short blackout at Disneyland Paris at the time of this article’s publication. Power was quickly restored, and Guests were able to continue taking advantage of their Disney Day, especially at the brand-new Marvel-Themed Avengers Campus area.
