James Bond is stepping into uncharted territory, and it’s not in the cinema this time. IO Interactive has lifted the curtain on “007 First Light”, the upcoming third-person action-adventure game that reimagines the world’s most famous spy for a new generation.
After teasing fans with a brief look earlier this year, Sony’s latest State of Play event finally delivered a full gameplay trailer that showcases Bond’s early years—and now we know exactly who will be joining him. Watch the new trailer below:
Headlining the cast is Irish actor Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin), who assumes the mantle of James Bond. Unlike the seasoned secret agent audiences know from film, this version of Bond is still in training, without his coveted “00” status. That twist sets the stage for a unique take on the origin of the character.
Lennie James (The Walking Dead) joins the game as John Greenway, a mentor figure who guides Bond but isn’t confined to the MI6 offices. Meanwhile, Priyanga Burford, who had a small role in No Time To Die (2021), is calling the shots as M.

Rounding out the team is Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, and Noemie Nakai as the enigmatic Miss Roth. Nakai, best known for Tokyo Vice and Army of Thieves, is positioned as the game’s Bond girl, while Mackenzie and Lester breathe life into the franchise’s most iconic supporting roles.
According to IO Interactive, “007 First Light” will explore “a young, resourceful, and sometimes reckless recruit in MI6’s training program.” The promise is a narrative-driven game with all the hallmarks of Bond: espionage, high-tech gadgets, exotic locations, and explosive action.
“007 First Light” launches on March 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. With a fresh take on the spy’s formative years and a stellar cast, IO Interactive seems ready to redefine what a Bond game can be.
