The future of James Bond is here—at least in video game form.
IO Interactive and Amazon MGM have lifted the curtain on “007 First Light,” a third-person action-adventure that will reintroduce MI6’s most famous agent in an origin story that's separate from the upcoming theatrical reboot from Denis Villeneuve (Dune: Part Two) and writer Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders).
Watch the official trailer for “007 First Light” below:
The trailer, which premiered two months ago, gives fans a glimpse at some of the most iconic characters in Bond’s world. Alongside the titular agent himself are longtime allies M, Q, and Miss Moneypenny, as well as a brand-new figure named John Greenway. There’s even a shadowy new villain identified only as Agent 009.
Bond’s superior M, historically portrayed by the likes of John Bernard Lee, Robert Brown, Dame Judi Dench, and Ralph Fiennes, takes on a different appearance in “First Light”. The casting has been viewed as a major departure, although it's worth noting that M’s identity—like 007’s—is a designation rather than a fixed individual. While some fans have celebrated the more diverse take on the role, others have voiced objections online.

Miss Moneypenny also appears in the footage, evoking the Naomie Harris version from the Daniel Craig era. Traditionally a secretary, she has since evolved into a far more active character. Q, meanwhile, is back in his usual role of outfitting Bond with cutting-edge gadgets, though the game has not yet confirmed who is voicing either character.
One supporting role that has been confirmed is Greenway, a mentor figure played by The Walking Dead star Lennie James. He’s glimpsed in a high-stakes crocodile pit sequence with the young 007, suggesting his involvement goes well beyond issuing advice from MI6 headquarters.

The trailer also teases Isola, a romantic interest fans suspect is portrayed by French-Japanese performer Noémie Nakai.
As for Bond himself, Lennie James confirmed that Irish actor Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) is indeed the face and voice of the new 007 following months of speculation among fans. Though he'll be donning the tux in the world of gaming, Gibson still joins a storied roster of Bonds that includes Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, George Lazenby, and Daniel Craig.
“007 First Light” launches in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows. There's no release date yet for the next theatrical Bond film.
