Disney Resort Takes Another Blow as More Indefinite Closures Announced

For nearly three decades, Disney’s BoardWalk Resort has invited guests to enjoy Crescent Lake’s waterfront charm, with both the BoardWalk Inn and BoardWalk Villas offering close proximity to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. But change continues to shape the area, as the resort prepares to say goodbye to a signature shop.

On October 19, the Promenade Fine Art Gallery at the BoardWalk Inn will close its doors. Cast members have shared that the gallery’s artwork and merchandise will still be available elsewhere, though whether that location will remain at the BoardWalk or move to another resort is yet to be announced.

This development follows a series of closures at the BoardWalk, including Jellyrolls, which shut down earlier this year. Beyond Crescent Lake, other Disney Deluxe Resorts—such as Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Contemporary Resort—are also undergoing transformation projects designed to update and enhance the guest experience.

Promenade itself will continue to have a presence in Florida, with two other gallery locations remaining open: one at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and another in St. Petersburg.

When it first opened in 1996, Disney’s BoardWalk brought the sights and sounds of turn-of-the-century Atlantic City to life, with a mix of recreation, dining, and entertainment. Restaurants include Flying Fish, Trattoria al Forno, and the BoardWalk pizza window, while Atlantic Dance Hall offers nighttime fun.

Recently, the Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers debuted, adding sit-down meals and elaborate desserts in a storybook-style setting. The Cake Bake Shop has received criticism over its pricing since its official opening at the Deluxe Resort hotel.

Guests planning visits in early 2026 should also note that the Disney Skyliner will be closed for scheduled maintenance between January 25 and January 31.

With Promenade’s departure, Disney's BoardWalk Inn enters yet another new chapter in its history.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
