Sesame Place San Diego To Close Its Doors September 21, 2025

Sesame Place San Diego announced on Monday night that it will close indefinitely as of September 21, 2025. The SeaWorld-owned California theme park shared plans to honor existing 2025 Season Passes with unlimited admission to SeaWorld San Diego, including popular holiday events such as Halloween Spooktacular and Christmas Celebration.

The Sesame Street theme park first opened its doors in March 2022. Before adopting its current identity, the location had a long history under different ownerships and names. The property previously operated as Aquatic San Diego under SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Knott's Soak City U.S.A. – San Diego under Cedar Fair, and White Water Canyon under independent ownership. Sesame Place San Diego also holds the distinction of being the first-ever theme park in the world to open as a certified autism center by the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES).

Sesame Place San Diego operated year-round for its first three years, offering seasonal events and themed entertainment throughout the year. On September 15, the park announced a shift to seasonal-only operations starting September 21, 2025. The park shared the news via Instagram:

Sesame Place will transition to a seasonal schedule, making every visit filled with more excitement, attractions, and activities to enjoy. By focusing on our most popular times of year, we can deliver the best possible experience from the moment guests arrive until the moment they leave. The park’s final operating day for this season will be Sunday, September 21, and we look forward to welcoming friends and families back in Spring 2026!

To honor current 2025 Season Pass Holders and ensure continued value, the park is providing each pass holder with a complimentary SeaWorld Fun Card valid through the remainder of the year. This added benefit offers unlimited admission to SeaWorld and access to seasonal events including Halloween Spooktacular and Christmas Celebration.

The park did not specify a reopening date in spring 2026, nor is it clear if it will offer modified or discounted season passes for the following year. 2025 Annual Pass Holders will automatically receive complimentary SeaWorld Fun Cards, including unlimited SeaWorld San Diego admission and access to the park's seasonal events: Halloween Spooktacular and Christmas Celebration.
