Walt Disney World Resort guests staying at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort are noticing some temporary changes due to lobby construction. The nostalgic Mickey Mouse statue, which has been a fixture in the Maestro Mickey’s gift shop since the Value Resort opened in 1994, is now hidden behind construction walls as part of ongoing renovations in the store.
Maestro Mickey’s, the Mickey Mouse-themed shop located at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, is undergoing a phased refurbishment that began in August. While the store remains open to guests, the renovations have resulted in some major changes to the space, including the partial concealment of the statue behind construction barriers. As of now, the shop remains open, but with some sections closed for ongoing improvements.

The refurbishment was officially announced by Walt Disney World Resort back in July. The Central Florida Disney park’s official website reads: “From August 4 through mid-October 2025, Maestro Mickey’s located at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort will undergo a phased refurbishment. During this time, the store will remain open. However, Guests may see and hear construction in the area until the work is complete.”
The renovations are similar to those seen recently at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where the BouTiki store was also updated in phases. During that refurbishment, certain areas were closed to guests, while others remained accessible. Crews slowly replaced flooring throughout the entire store without shutting it down.

Guests visiting Maestro Mickey’s now find that, while they can still browse and shop, the Mickey Mouse statue usually standing proudly behind one of the cash registers is obscured by the walls of the construction zone. While it remains unclear whether the statue will return to its usual spot once the renovations are complete, the updates to the gift shop are expected to be completed by mid-October 2025. In the meantime, guests can continue to purchase items such as souvenirs, clothing, necessities, and food at the partially open store.
On October 2, WDWNT reported that new flooring had already been installed in parts of Maestro Mickey’s. The old geometric-patterned carpet, as seen below in a post from @TheLeisureProf on X (formerly Twitter), has been replaced with light and medium honey oak vinyl planks, separated by a dark gray border to form a walkway.

If you’re planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort soon and were hoping to see Mickey in all his glory at the Maestro Mickey’s gift shop, you’ll need to wait until mid-October for the renovation to be completed. For now, the iconic Mickey Mouse figure remains out of sight, hidden behind the walls as the shop undergoes its scheduled overhaul.
