Disney Confirms Erasure of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Timeline Revealed

The Muppets are taking the stage in a whole new way at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Disney has confirmed that Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will debut in Summer 2026, inviting guests to join Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem for a wild musical road trip across Hollywood.

Expect plenty of Muppet-style fun, from Scooter’s frantic band management to penguin audio engineers scrambling to keep the music on beat. As Disney Parks Blog revealed, “This will be the first time Scooter has ever been imagined as an Audio-Animatronics figure, and I hear he might not be the only Muppet Audio-Animatronics figure joining the attraction… but we’ll have to wait to learn more about that.”

The attraction promises an original soundtrack, familiar faces, and all-new Muppet technology that brings the group’s trademark energy to life. To celebrate, Disney shared a vibrant attraction poster that captures the chaotic charm of the Electric Mayhem, now available as a downloadable wallpaper for fans everywhere.

The Muppets’ new home comes as part of a larger transformation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The park’s Grand Avenue area, along with MuppetVision 3D* and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, has closed in preparation for the arrival of Monstropolis, one of the park’s largest re-themes to date. Over in Animation Courtyard, Star Wars Launch Bay and Disney Jr. Play & Dance closed forever on September 25, 2025, clearing the way for The Magic of Disney Animation, a newly imagined experience inspired by the original Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

This new area will include interactive animation workshops, short films, character encounters, and a play zone for children. The Sorcerer’s Hat, once a park icon, will also return as the focal point of the land.

Beyond Hollywood Studios, Walt Disney World continues its massive evolution. Magic Kingdom is welcoming Piston Peak National Park, a new Cars-inspired land, while Animal Kingdom is preparing its Tropical Americas expansion, set to open around 2027 with experiences based on Encanto and Indiana Jones.

With all these changes, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is poised to enter an exciting new chapter, one that fuses beloved characters, fresh stories, and immersive experiences. And in Summer 2026, when guests hear that familiar Muppet beat kick in, they’ll know it’s time to rock out with the most unpredictable band in show business.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.

  1. They’ll definitely have to rename the coaster because, sadly, it will no longer be rock n roll. Seriously disappointed in the change. Disney could’ve done like they did with Guardians. If they are no longer using Aerosmith tunes (big mistake), then choose other rock n roll songs to utilize. Although I love The Muppets, this is not where they belong. Dr. Teeth? Lame. Animal is the only good part of the band and that’s still no rock n roll. Dr. Teeth & Vompsny are not popular Muppets…. again, except for Animal. My kids are begging we go to Universal for rollercoasters now. (We live in central FL) They hate this idea like I do. We wanna rock and ride like we’re driving with the car windows open blaring rock music. We don’t want some Rainbow Connection sweet ride. Disappointed that Disney closed the show and now ruins a great rollercoaster ride too.
