Rumors Swirl Around Possible Fantasyland Closure in Magic Kingdom

Something might be brewing in Fantasyland, and fans are already buzzing. A recent work permit has sparked speculation that a familiar spot inside Storybook Circus could be closing or undergoing a major refurbishment.

Fantasyland has seen its fair share of changes since its big expansion in 2012, but this particular location has been a constant presence. It’s not the flashiest attraction in the park, but it’s one that many families count on as a cool, comfortable break from the hustle and bustle of Magic Kingdom.

The permit references the circus tents in Storybook Circus, leading many to believe Pete’s Silly Sideshow may be next in line for a big update. This indoor meet-and-greet is home to Minnie, Daisy, Goofy, and Donald in themed circus costumes, making it a fun character stop that’s tucked away from the main walkways.

A Closer Look at the Permit

The listed contractor, Birdair Inc., is known for working with fabric roofing structures, which is exactly what covers this corner of the park. That detail alone suggests this isn’t a quick touch-up. Fans suspect a full roof replacement or other extensive work that could temporarily close the area.

Earlier this month, Disney swapped out banners at the Sideshow location, which at the time seemed like a routine update. Now, with the permit in place, it appears that was just the beginning.

What It Could Mean for Guests

If Pete’s Silly Sideshow closes, even for a short period, it would remove one of Fantasyland’s more family-friendly spots. It’s one of the few places where guests can meet multiple classic characters in a single location, and its indoor setting offers a rare opportunity to cool off while waiting in line.

The location has become something of a hidden gem, especially for parents looking for a quick break without leaving the land. A closure, even temporary, would leave a noticeable gap in that part of the park.

No Official Word Yet

Disney has not commented on the project or provided a timeline. For now, the meet-and-greet remains open. But if the rumors are correct, the space could see significant changes soon.

Fantasyland has evolved many times over the years, and this may be the next chapter. If you want to meet Minnie, Daisy, Goofy, or Donald in their circus costumes, it might be wise to plan your visit before the work begins.
