Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park this week may find the entry process different than usual. A major portion of the main walkway at the front of the fourth Walt Disney World Resort theme park has been blocked off for concrete maintenance, creating an unexpected bottleneck just as Thanksgiving crowds begin to arrive.
Thanksgiving week is the start of one of the busiest seasons at Walt Disney World Resort. Rope-drop mornings regularly draw large groups of guests hoping to experience attractions before standby lines grow. Additionally, Disney Resort hotel guests receive Early Theme Park Entry, allowing them to access the parks even earlier. With attendance rising across all four Disney theme parks, smooth entry procedures become especially important.

On Thursday, a report from WDWNT confirmed that a significant section of the walkway leading into Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park has been barricaded. The refurbishment focuses on damaged, cracked concrete that has spread beyond the primary work zone. Much of this area is typically used during the morning rush, when Disney cast members open multiple touchpoints to expedite guest entry.
The affected portion of the walkway is located near Guest Relations and Rainforest Cafe, and is typically used as an exit in the afternoon and evening. However, when the park is busy in the morning, this space helps relieve pressure on the main entrance area. With it currently blocked, the walk into Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is expected to be slower and more crowded.

If you’re heading to Disney’s Animal Kingdom during the Thanksgiving travel window, plan for extra time when approaching the entrance. The construction has not been given an end date, and there is no information about whether the work zone will expand as repairs continue.
