Mother Refused To Help Firefighters After Her Son Jumped Into Disneyland Ride Water, Stripped Naked

Thanksgiving Day at Disney California Adventure Park turned into chaos when a young boy jumped out of his raft on Grizzly River Run. According to witnesses, Disneyland Resort firefighters rushed in to rescue the child, only to find him splashing in the ride water, trying to climb onto other rafts, and eventually stripping naked. Guests say the boy’s mother refused to help, leaving Disney cast members and first responders to manage the dangerous situation alone while the attraction was shut down.

Child Jumps From Grizzly River Run Raft

Grizzly River Run is a fast-moving river rapids attraction at Disney California Adventure Park. Although it appears to be a natural river, the channel conceals mechanical tracks and moving parts beneath the surface, rendering it unsafe for swimming. The risk comes not only from the machinery but also from the large, heavy raft-style ride vehicles that can collide unexpectedly. In 2016, four people died after a malfunction caused two rafts to collide on a similar river rapids ride at Dreamworld, a theme park in Australia.

The Thanksgiving incident at Disneyland Resort went viral after TikTok user @therichbabymomma posted a photo and several videos of the boy’s rescue. Her post shows a Disneyland Resort firefighter holding onto the boy as he leans against one of the Grizzly River Run rafts, along with footage of the child splashing in the water. She reported that he also removed some of his clothing before finally climbing out of the restricted area.

“It’s Thanksgiving day at Disneyland And this kid jumped in the water and shut down grizzly river run,” the Disney Park guest captioned the video.

After the video received more than a million views, the TikToker followed up with more context. In a longer caption, she claimed that the boy stripped naked and defecated in the ride water while his mother refused to help Disneyland Resort firefighters or cast members bring him to safety. She also said that riders were stuck on the attraction for more than an hour and a half:

“Thanksgiving in this kid decided to take a little swim in grizzly River run. Take off his clothes and then proceeded to take a 💩 .. the mom was around, but didn’t care too much and was super unhelpful.. meanwhile my kids were stuck on the ride for an hour and a half”

In the comments, another Disney Park guest backed up her account.

“I was on the ride about to get off when they stopped the ride and I saw when the child jumped into the water,” @destiinybbyy wrote. “Mom showed no sign of even trying to get her son out of the water. It seemed like she wanted to put all the burden and responsibility onto the Disney staff (which they did an amazing job on handling the situation).”

“She was just standing and watching him play in the water while all the staff would bring toys and stuff to try to get him out of the water,” the commenter continued. “He even got to climb onto our vehicle which was so dangerous as he couldave fell and hit his head on the metal bar. He was also pulling down his pants and began undressing and mom wouldn’t say anything and just watched.”

Other social media users chimed in to say they heard the family had been banned from Disneyland Resort, but that part of the story could not be independently verified.

Parenting Debate Erupts Among Disney Parks Fans

The incident quickly sparked an online debate about parenting and responsibility at the Disney parks. Many commenters argued that the child’s mother should be held accountable, especially given the danger of climbing out of a moving raft into the water.

“How about holding the parents accountable as well,” said @cali.banjoplayer9.

“I have two children on the spectrum and they would never because I would NOT let that happen…,” @tiffanyawinkelnutte replied.

Several people said they believed Disneyland Resort should follow through with strong consequences for the family.

“Gonna get banned for life,” @nickydegirolamo commented. “Parents better not cry about it…So dangerous.”

“About 17-18 years ago, I went with my students to Disney and 2 of them did something similar,” @gabriela.magdalen31 wrote. “They banned them and the whole school for 5 years.”

Others pushed back on the harsher responses, noting that the child might be on the autism spectrum and that situations near water can escalate quickly, even with attentive parents.

“For the people saying that if he’s on the spectrum it shouldn’t matter, you obviously don’t know what a parent goes through with a child with a disability,” @kitty_scorsese argued. “At times our kids are super fast that even when we are helicoptering them they get away fast.”

“My boy on the spectrum RUNS to bodies of water because he loves to swim and splash around so we have to hold him close around water,” said @rxsemvry24. “I’m so glad they were kind to him it’s not his fault, I empathize with the parents.”

By the time the situation ended, the ride water had been drained, guests had been evacuated from Grizzly River Run, and firefighters had successfully coaxed the child out of the restricted area. At the time of publication, Grizzly River Run had reopened and was operating normally.

Disneyland Resort has not issued an official statement regarding the Thanksgiving incident, and it is unclear whether the boy’s family faced formal disciplinary action.
