The Disney Snack Wave That’s Unexpectedly Shocking Guests

Disney prides itself on surprising visitors, but the resort’s newest food direction is throwing people for a loop more than usual. Guests are grabbing their favorite snacks, expecting the same tastes they’ve known for years, only to realize that Disney has changed its approach. Whether this shift is good or bad depends on who you ask, but most guests agree on one thing: Disney has become unusually daring with one particular snack.

Why Disney’s Classic Snacks Matter So Much

Before diving into the unexpected trend, it’s worth acknowledging the snacks that built Disney’s reputation in the first place. These foods became staples for a reason.

The Mickey-shaped pretzel, for example, strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and iconicity. It’s warm, lightly salted, easy to snack on, and practically designed for photo ops. It’s a core part of the “I’m really at Disney World” experience.

Then there’s Dole Whip—a treat so popular it practically has its own fan club. The pineapple soft serve is refreshing, bright, and tied directly to Disney nostalgia. Countless guests start their day in Adventureland with one in hand.

Churros, popcorn, and turkey legs round out the mix of essential park snacks. Fans know exactly what they’re getting every time they buy one. Or at least, that was once the case.

The Rise of the Reinvented Churro

In recent years, the churro has evolved from a classic treat into a creative playground for Disney’s culinary teams. The original cinnamon-sugar version still exists, but it now shares the spotlight with an ever-growing list of experimental variations.

Some guests appreciate the fun. Others feel like the churro has lost its identity. And Disney’s newest offerings are only intensifying that conversation.

Flavors Guests Never Expected

Guests walking up to churro carts are discovering desserts that barely resemble the original. Disney is pushing boundaries with bold toppings, sauces, and flavor profiles that go far beyond what anyone saw coming.

This rapid stream of new creations has fans either excited or completely bewildered. Several recent additions are fueling the debate.

A Campfire-Inspired Treat

Eight Spoon Café in Disney's Animal Kingdom introduced the S’mores Churro, and it’s easily one of the most extravagant churro variations yet. It’s rolled in a chocolate-sugar mix and piled high with whipped cream, graham crackers, and chocolate chips. It also comes with whipped cream and a marshmallow topping for dipping.

Some guests embrace the decadence and treat it like a whole dessert. Others see it and immediately question how they’re supposed to eat it while walking between attractions.

Tomorrowland Goes All-In on Cherry Cola

Tomorrowland’s Astro-Fizz stand added its own twist with the Cherry Cola Churro. Rolled in cherry sugar, drizzled with Coca-Cola Cherry icing, and topped with cherry popping candies, this option is one of Disney’s most unusual churros yet.

The Coke tie-in makes sense. Coca-Cola hosts the stand—but that context doesn’t make the flavor combination any less surprising for guests expecting something familiar.

Hollywood Studios Pushes Churros Into Savory Territory

Ice Cold Hydraulics in Hollywood Studios takes the experimentation even further. The Candy Painted Cinnamon Roll introduces a Coca–Cola–infused glaze into the mix, but the head-turner is the Bouncin’ Mini Churros.

These churros come topped with bourbon-candied bacon, Coca-Cola, sriracha aioli, and scallions. For guests accustomed to sweet churros, seeing savory versions feels almost surreal.

Endless Variations Across the Parks

Disney has gone all-in on churro creativity. Oreo churros, cheesecake churros, pumpkin spice versions, candy-loaded churros, churro sundaes, filled churros—the list keeps expanding. Every season brings a new twist, meaning guests never know what will appear next.

Some find the variety refreshing. Others just want the classic cinnamon-sugar version that won them over years ago.

Fans Sound Off on the Changes

Fan responses fall into two clear camps. Some love the experimentation and treat each new churro as a must-try. Others feel the constant reinventions are unnecessary and overdone.

Many guests enjoy churros with ice cream or chocolate dip, but the moment savory toppings or soda-based drizzles are introduced, reactions shift quickly.

Which Snack Will Disney Overhaul Next?

With churros now serving as Disney’s most experimental snack canvas, fans can’t help but wonder where the culinary team will go next. Could Mickey pretzels get wild new toppings? Could the classic ice cream bar debut a new filling?

Right now, nothing seems off-limits—and guests are watching closely to see which beloved snack Disney transforms next.
