Universal Epic Universe had a wait time of 4-6 hours for one ride on December 3, 2025. Recent permits hint at something big on the horizon.

Epic Universe Hit With Wild Wait Times as New Wizarding World Speculation Builds
It was supposed to be a day of adventure, spells, and cutting-edge thrills. Instead, thousands of guests at Universal’s newest Orlando theme park found themselves in a scene that felt more like a real-life endurance challenge. Lines curled through the Ministry of Magic with a density usually reserved for opening-day chaos, stretching so far that many guests spent nearly the entire day waiting for just one attraction. And while the crowds were enough to dominate social media, a quieter story simmered beneath the surface—one that could shape the future of the Wizarding World as we know it.
Because just as guests were facing some of the most extreme waits the park has seen to date, a new clue emerged that suggests something bigger may be brewing inside Epic Universe.

The Six-Hour Harry Potter Queue That Stopped the Park
Guests entering The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic on December 3 were stunned to see Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry showing an astronomical 380-minute wait. Combined standby and Express lane times reportedly pushed many visitors into six-hour-plus waits, leaving little opportunity to enjoy other attractions.
Four hours for standby and 2 hours for EXPRESS is insane. I love this park, but your experience there can differ so wildly from day to day. – @NickChaps96 on X

Standby lines hovered around four hours; Express times neared two hours—rare for an upcharge service known for faster access. For many, the decision became simple: commit the entire day to this one ride or skip the land’s flagship attraction entirely.
The ride has held strong two-hour waits ever since Epic Universe opened on May 22, 2025, but the new surge solidified it as the park’s most capacity-strained experience.

Fan Analysis Points to a Bigger Issue
Theme park watchers were quick to note the underlying pattern: Epic Universe, despite its vast layout, features comparatively few indoor, high-capacity rides. The Ministry of Magic area, being one of the most anticipated lands, absorbs a massive number of guests—yet only offers one major attraction.
That demand imbalance might soon be addressed.

A Permit With Huge Implications Appears
Earlier in December, a new construction permit was filed calling for “site utilities and foundation work” and “new construction” on a 150,000-square-foot site—a scale that immediately caught fans’ attention.
The footprint rivals the combined size of Le Cirque Arcanus and Battle at the Ministry, meaning it is large enough to house a major attraction.
Rumors of a Ministry of Magic expansion began circulating in November, making the timing particularly noteworthy.

Universal Gives an Intriguing Confirmation
Alyson Sologaistoa, Vice President of Public Relations for Universal Orlando Resort, gave the following statement to the Orlando Business Journal:
“Universal Orlando is preparing for some exciting additions to Universal Epic Universe in the future. … Details about specific developments will be shared in due time.”
While no land was named, the confirmation—paired with the enormous building footprint—fueled speculation that the Wizarding World may be the first expansion zone at Epic Universe.

So What Happens Now?
With Universal declining to reveal specifics, guests should expect high Ministry of Magic wait times to continue. Battle at the Ministry remains one of the most sought-after attractions in any Orlando theme park—and the crowds reflect that. Until additional capacity arrives, long waits may simply be part of the experience.
But if the current clues point where many believe they do, the Wizarding World could soon grow even larger, offering relief for guests and fresh storytelling opportunities for Universal.
For now, the only certainty is this: Epic Universe is already evolving.
