Disney World Roadway Blocked After Tragedy Strikes on December 9

Emergency crews responded to a vehicle collision in the EPCOT Resort area on Tuesday morning, with first responders arriving on scene around 8:00 a.m. following a call for assistance from the local fire department. At least one Walt Disney World Resort guest was injured in the accident.

The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District fire department contacted law enforcement and paramedic units at approximately 8:00 a.m. on December 9 to assist with a crash near the intersection of E Buena Vista Drive and EPCOT Resorts Boulevard. The incident was monitored and shared by @WDWActiveCrime, a social media account that tracks emergency responses across Walt Disney World Resort property.

The initial dispatch was coded as an “Assist Fire Department” call. As emergency personnel assessed the scene, the classification was updated to indicate injuries had occurred and traffic was being impacted.

Law enforcement and medical personnel have not publicly disclosed how many individuals sustained injuries or the extent of those injuries. Medical privacy laws typically prevent the release of detailed information about accident victims, and Disney-related incidents rarely result in comprehensive public reports unless fatalities occur or criminal charges are filed.

Park Operations Continue Without Interruption

EPCOT and all other Walt Disney World Resort theme parks remained fully operational following the morning collision. Guests traveling to the parks on Tuesday can utilize all standard transportation options, including personal vehicles, resort buses, the Monorail system, Disney Skyliner gondolas, and watercraft services.

Visitors driving to EPCOT should pay attention to any temporary signage or instructions from traffic control personnel regarding possible route adjustments. While cleanup efforts from the accident may have required brief detours, no extended road closures have been reported.
