Winter conditions in Central Florida have once again influenced daily operations at Walt Disney World Resort. Following a high-traffic Christmas week, a cold front has moved through the region, leading Disney to temporarily suspend water park operations as temperatures drop.

According to Click Orlando, forecasts began signaling a change well before the holiday ended. Meteorologists pointed to a transition from warm, dry weather toward colder and windier conditions as December came to a close.
“While the immediate Christmas period will be warm and dry, models show the potential for a surge of polar and Arctic air to push south towards the end of December,” the outlet reported prior to Christmas.
Those projections have now proven accurate. Disney confirmed that Typhoon Lagoon will be closed from Tuesday, December 30, through Thursday, January 1. The cold snap is affecting other Central Florida destinations as well, with Universal Orlando Resort closing Volcano Bay on Tuesday, December 30.

“The cold air starts to arrive Monday night into Tuesday, bringing morning temperatures down across the area,” Click Orlando stated in a follow-up update. “Wednesday morning wake-up temperatures could feel especially brisk, with lows forecast as cold as the lower 30s in some cities.”
While short-term closures are underway, Disney has also been looking ahead. The company recently announced the return of the Disney Water Park Seasonal Pass for the 2025–2026 season. The limited-time ticket offers guests multiple visits to both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach through May 9, 2026.
The pass is priced at $89 for adults and $83 for children. There is one blockout period to consider, running from March 28 through April 5, 2026.

In addition to water park admission, the Seasonal Pass includes extra benefits. Passholders can enjoy a 20% discount on same-day cabana rentals, including Polar Patios at Blizzard Beach and Beachcomber Shacks at Typhoon Lagoon. These discounts are offered on a walk-up basis and are subject to availability.
Another included offering is one complimentary round of mini golf. Guests can redeem this benefit before 4 p.m. at Winter Summerland Miniature Golf or Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf at any point during the pass’s valid dates.
Disney also confirmed its upcoming seasonal rotation. Typhoon Lagoon is scheduled to close for routine maintenance on February 14, 2026, with Blizzard Beach reopening on February 15. The Seasonal Pass is currently available for purchase through Walt Disney World’s Special Offers page, with options to buy online, by phone, or in person.

Although Typhoon Lagoon’s February closure is planned, Disney has shown flexibility in recent years. In 2025, both water parks operated at the same time for the first time since 2019, signaling possible adjustments during peak seasons.
As Typhoon Lagoon remains closed for three days due to weather, guests visiting Walt Disney World may see increased crowds at the resort’s four theme parks as plans adapt to the colder conditions.
