A popular personalization service at Disney Springs has vanished without warning, leaving Walt Disney World Resort guests facing empty storefronts where they once designed custom souvenirs. The abrupt elimination of D-Tech merchandise customization caught Disney Parks fans completely off guard, with many discovering the permanent closure weeks after it happened when they arrived for vacations expecting to continue family traditions.
December Shutdown Went Unnoticed
Walt Disney World Resort removed the D-Tech Onsite merchandise customization shop from the Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs in late December 2025, without any public announcement. The closure eliminated one of two D-Tech locations on property, leaving only the MaDe customization kiosk in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom Park.
That remaining outpost survived less than a week into 2026. All customization kiosks in the Magic Kingdom Park gift shop, located near Space Mountain, shut down permanently on January 1, marking the complete erasure of personalized merchandise creation from Walt Disney World Resort. Guests who visited the theme parks during the holiday season saw functioning D-Tech kiosks; those arriving in January found nothing but empty retail space.
Personalization Options Eliminated
D-Tech and MaDe kiosks provided guests with unique souvenir creation opportunities unavailable elsewhere at Walt Disney World Resort. Visitors could design custom phone cases, smartwatch bands, MagicBands, magnets, and assorted accessories by selecting from hundreds of licensed images representing Disney, Pixar, Marvel, The Muppets, Star Wars, and other franchises. Personal messages and color customization enabled guests to create made-to-order keepsakes commemorating their unique vacations.
The service developed devoted followings among certain Disney Park guests. Some families made D-Tech purchases a mandatory part of their vacation ritual, visiting the kiosks on every trip to create new, customized phone cases when upgrading devices or simply wanting fresh designs.
Word Spreads Slowly About Disney Springs Closure
Despite D-Tech disappearing from Disney Springs in December and Magic Kingdom Park on New Year's Day, numerous Disney Parks fans remained unaware until mid-January. X (formerly known as Twitter) user Alicia Stella (@AliciaStella) broke the news to her followers when responding to a discussion about a removed photo opportunity near the former D-Tech location.
“Nevermind the photo op, the D-Tech is just gone. Gone forever,” Stella wrote.

Her post served as the first notification for many Disney Parks enthusiasts that D-Tech had closed permanently. Comment threads filled with shocked reactions from guests who were unaware that the customization service had ended.
“WHAaaaaa!?! Well, damn. We used to get get custom cases there almost every trip,” @NealHunterHyde responded. “Granted, didn't buy one this last fall, the cases didn't support MagSafe charging or stands (or something), so it wouldn't be a case I'd actually use.”

Product Quality Issues
Some Disney Parks fans applauded D-Tech's closure rather than mourning it. Multiple commenters claimed product quality had deteriorated significantly in recent years, transforming the customization service from a premium offering to an overpriced disappointment.

Customization Options Shrink
D-Tech's permanent removal leaves Walt Disney World Resort with significantly reduced personalization services. While embroidery remains available at select shops and some merchandise still offers minor customization, the extensive D-Tech design library featuring hundreds of character images across multiple franchises is gone forever.
