Someone wrapped a letter around a fake rose and attempted to throw it in the gas powered fireplace outside Hearthstone Lounge at the Grand Californian Hotel.
Throwing flammable materials into a gas powered fireplace isn't just dumb, it's also incredibly dangerous.

Serious Hazards Narrowly Avoided

Plastic burning in a gas-powered fireplace poses multiple dangers. The material can intensify flames beyond safe levels, potentially burning nearby guests or igniting materials outside the fireplace's containment. Burning plastic also releases toxic fumes that can cause respiratory problems and other health issues for people and animals in the vicinity.

The incident occurred in a high-traffic area where families wait for Hearthstone Lounge seating or relax in Disney's Grand Californian lobby, potentially multiplying the number of potential victims if the situation had escalated.

The plastic rose and paper, fortunately, appear to have fallen behind artificial logs, mostly avoiding direct flame contact. Disney cast members likely removed the items once they became aware of them.

No injuries were reported. Whether Disneyland Resort disciplined or removed the guest responsible remains unknown. The Southern California Disney destination has not commented publicly on the incident.

Guests witnessing dangerous or rule-breaking behavior at Disney properties should not confront other visitors directly. Instead, immediately notify the nearest Disney cast member, who can follow safety protocols and contact security or law enforcement as needed.
