Disney World has been in nonstop expansion mode, and most of the attention has been locked on the parks getting massive new land projects.
Magic Kingdom is heading toward Villains Land and Piston Peak. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is pushing into a new era with Magic of Disney Animation and Monstropolis. Animal Kingdom is also preparing for a major transformation with Tropical Americas on the horizon.
With all of those announcements dominating the conversation, EPCOT almost seems like the park that’s falling behind.
But in 2026, EPCOT is about to prove that it doesn’t need one giant land reveal to keep up.
Instead, Disney is turning EPCOT into something that feels refreshed year-round, thanks to attraction upgrades, entertainment additions, and a festival calendar that barely leaves room for downtime.

EPCOT Thrives Without Needing a Giant Expansion
EPCOT has continuously operated differently from the other parks.
Magic Kingdom runs on classic rides and timeless storytelling. Hollywood Studios thrives on big-name franchises. Animal Kingdom blends immersive environments with attractions.
EPCOT, though, has always been a park built on variety. Guests can ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and then spend hours in World Showcase eating, exploring, and enjoying the atmosphere.
That’s why EPCOT doesn’t need a Villains Land-sized announcement to stay relevant. It just needs consistent upgrades and new reasons for guests to return.
And Disney seems to be leaning fully into that approach for 2026.
EPCOT’s Biggest Changes Come Through Entertainment
Instead of focusing on construction-heavy expansion, EPCOT is strengthening what it already does best.
Disney confirmed that ¡Celebración Encanto! will be extended indefinitely, keeping one of the park’s most energetic entertainment offerings around for the long haul.
The show draws families, adds movement and excitement to the park, and gives EPCOT another reason for guests to stop and watch, rather than rushing from ride to ride.
It’s a smart move, especially since EPCOT has always benefited from live entertainment.

Frozen Ever After Returns and Immediately Draws Crowds
Frozen Ever After reopened on February 12, and it instantly became a central talking point again.
Guests rushed back to Norway because Disney didn’t just reopen the attraction. The ride returned with new animatronics, which is a significant upgrade for one of EPCOT’s most popular experiences.
Frozen Ever After already pulls long wait times regularly, so improving the ride experience helps Disney strengthen one of EPCOT’s biggest crowd magnets without needing to rebuild the pavilion.
Soarin’ Across America Makes a Comeback
Disney also announced that Soarin’ will shift into Soarin’ Across America for the 250th anniversary of the United States.
Even if the change is temporary, it creates a major reason to revisit the attraction, especially for guests who haven’t experienced the original version in years.

Festivals Will Keep EPCOT in Motion All Year
EPCOT’s festival calendar will remain packed in 2026, which means the park will stay busy season after season.
Festival of the Arts will run from January 16 through February 23, keeping the park active early in the year. Flower and Garden Festival will run from March 4 through June 1, giving EPCOT one of its longest stretches of seasonal offerings.
Food and Wine Festival will return in fall 2026, bringing back one of the park’s biggest annual crowd drivers. Festival of the Holidays will also return later in the year, once again turning World Showcase into a global holiday celebration.
Instead of having one “big season,” EPCOT is setting itself up to stay in constant rotation.

After Hours and GoofyCore Add Even More Reasons to Visit
Disney confirmed that After Hours events will continue at EPCOT, which gives guests another way to experience the park with lower crowds and shorter waits. EPCOT’s nighttime atmosphere already feels unique, so these events fit the park perfectly.
On top of that, GoofyCore is arriving as part of Cool Kids Summer, bringing interactive games and character experiences into EPCOT. That helps the park feel more family-friendly and fills a gap for younger guests who might not spend the whole day riding attractions.
EPCOT’s 2026 Overhaul Feels Bigger Than It Looks
EPCOT isn’t getting one massive land expansion like the other parks.
Instead, Disney is building an entire year of upgrades and experiences through entertainment, festivals, and attraction refreshes.
If everything stays on track, EPCOT won’t just feel improved in 2026.
It could end up feeling like the most consistent park at Walt Disney World.
